Cannes 2019 Days 5, 6: Aishwarya Rai, Helen Mirren and Patricia Contreras among best-dressed celebrities
Cannes Film Festival 2019 is in full swing and the 72nd edition of the cinematic celebration is drawing actors, actresses, directors and producers to the French Riviera for the occasion.
The proceedings kicked off last Tuesday with a star-studded opening ceremony featuring the likes of Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Julianne Moore and Nadine Labaki. From there on, things just got increasingly glamorous on the red carpet. Capes and gowns still dominated the carpet and we were delighted to see so many variations.
On Saturday, the screening of 'Les Plus Belles Annees D'Une Vie' drew Dame Helen Mirren, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, while Monica Bellucci and Andie MacDowell attended the premiere of 'The Best Years of a Life'.
Here are some of our favorite looks from days five and six:
1. Dame Helen Mirren
The definition of glamour, Helen Mirren debuted her pink hair at the premiere of 'Les Plus Belles Annees D'Une Vie' during the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2019. Wearing Elie Saab, the 73-year-old looked exquisite as she matched her hair color with a rose gold dress, which fanned out behind her. She appeared to be in high spirits, as she beamed at the crowds while holding out her gown to show it off in its entirety. The actress was joined by her partner in crime Andie MacDowell, who starred alongside her in the 2001 movie 'On The Edge'.
2. Camila Coelho
Forbes 30 under 30 star Camila Coelho stole the show at the premiere of 'A Hidden Life' dressed in a Georges Hobeika nude embellished dress. She showed off some serious leg with the thigh-high slit as she fanned her full-length cape. She accessorized with Boucheron earrings and a bracelet and her makeup perfectly complemented the look.
3. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
The newlyweds attended the premiere of 'Les Plus Belles Annees D'Une Vie' looking all ready for another wedding.
Priyanka wore a white Georges Hobeika gown which had a multi-layered flared skirt and accessorized with Chopard jewellery. She chose a purple-nude shade and her hair was tied back into a sleek ponytail. The back of the gown was cinched to fit and revealed her three-tiered train.
Nick Jonas, on the other hand, wore a Berluti tuxedo designed by Kris Van Assche with 'Alessandro' shoes. This definitely reminded us of their wedding and we absolutely love it!
4. Nadine Labaki
Nadine Labaki, president of ‘Un Certain Regard’ jury for the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, looked stunning in Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring Summer 2019 at the screening of ‘A Hidden Life’. The dress was cinched at her waist and cascaded down with a ruffle which was also the train. Labaki kept the look simple with earrings and a bracelet. She looked incredibly elegant and pulled off the entire look very effortlessly.
5. Diana Penty
Diana Penty wore a structured Nedret Taciroglu ballgown for the premiere of 'A Hidden Life'. The beige dress had fake fur trimmings and gold embellishments. A red pout completed the look. We totally support the faux feather moment and love her idea of go big or go home.
6. Josephine Skriver
Danish model Josephine Skriver sizzled in a black gown from Ali Younes at the red carpet of the premiere of 'A Hidden Life'. The gown had a high-low ruffled cut and was followed by a train. The fabric was patterned and looked amazing on Skriver. Her hair was tied back into a slick braid.
7. Aishwarya Rai
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rocked the metallic fish-cut gown from Jean-Louis Sabaji Couture at the red carpet of the premiere of 'A Hidden Life' at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival on May 20. They metallic shade reminded us of Bollywood in the 2000s but Aishwarya, being the Queen that she is, pulled it off!
8. Aja King
Aja King wore a peach Zac Posen gown which was styled by Wayman and Micah. The gown had white raindrop embellishments and flared sleeves. She accessorized the gown with Messika Jewellery. Her hair was tied into a sleek ponytail which shone all the attention on the plunging neckline. Speak of old Hollywood ball-gowns.
9. Patricia Contreras
Over the past few days, we've seen a lot of pink dresses. A lot of them have failed to impress but Patricia Contreras in Christophe Guillarme off-shoulder gown was a vision. The gown had the perfect fit and looked stunning on her. Her hair was tied into a bun and she accessorized the outfit with a choker. She kept it playful with the white Biondini Paris stilettos and the thigh-high slit just complemented the whole look.
10. Isabeli Fontana
At the red carpet premiere of 'Les Plus Belles Annees D’Une Vie', Isabeli Fontana was a holographic vision. One of the best looks of the evening, Fontana played the colours exactly right and looked absolutely beautiful. The former Victoria's Secret model wore a purple Ali Younes Couture metallic gown with a plunging neckline. She tied her hair into a sleek bun, wore a full face of makeup, and accessorized with a beautiful Boucheron silver necklace.
