'There's still a connection': Exes Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes 'cleared the air' before Coachella smooch

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes are still devoted to one another. The 26-year-old singer and Shawn, 24, were recently photographed kissing at Coachella, and the famous couple "still care about each other" after declaring their divorce over two years ago.

"Camila and Shawn were talking and spending time together for months before Coachella. Even while they were apart, they had a lot of affection for one other. They still care about each other," a source told Entertainment Tonight.

‘Undeniable chemistry’

Camila and Shawn had always intended to meet at Coachella. Despite their kiss, the couple is no longer together. "They knew they were both going to Coachella and had plans to meet up and hang out," the insider continued. "Shawn and Camila had been in touch the last few weeks and have cleared the air about the breakup. There is still a connection between them and both of them shared they still care about one another. It's very casual at this point."

"Shawn and Camila let loose during night one of Coachella and were just having fun. There is still undeniable chemistry between the two and everyone around them can feel it," they added.

‘We started as best friends’

Camila and Shawn split in 2021. At the time, a source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the relationship ran its natural course and the couple realized they were on different pages. The brunette beauty, who rose to stardom as a member of Fifth Harmony, and Shawn insisted at the time that they would keep in touch.

"Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. [heart emoji] We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward [heart emojis] Camila and Shawn (sic)," they informed fans at the time.
