'One thing led to another': Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's steamy kiss at Coachella was 'a one-off'
COACHELLA, CALIFORNIA: Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes are not back together! Despite their PDA-filled appearance at the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival over the weekend, the ex couple are allegedly not back together.
According to a source, the former couple, who were seen sharing a hot kiss on the night of April 14, are still simply friends, albeit very close ones. Page Six quoted a source as saying, "Shawn and Camila remain friends with a lot of love and history between them, but they aren't dating again."

‘They’ve stayed in touch’
The insider further explained, "They’ve stayed in touch since their breakup and decided to meet up at Coachella since they were both going." When asked about the sensual kiss the former lovers shared, the source claimed it was 'a one-off,' and that 'one thing led to another as the night progressed.'
In 2014, Camila and Shawn met when she was an opening act for Austin Mahone's tour as part of the Fifth Harmony group. Their friendship grew from the tour and led to a joint effort in the form of the song "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in November 2015. They wrote the hit while on Taylor Swift's 1989 tour, Shawn told Rolling Stone.
The beginning and end of a love story
"We were just backstage hanging out," the ‘Stitches' singer, Shawn explained. "I pulled out my guitar and we were just messing around, not really thinking about writing a song." The track charted on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Following that, the couple maintained their tight connection, recording a cover of Ed Sheeran's ‘Kiss Me’ in 2017.
They collaborated once more on the sensual hit, ‘Senorita’, which was released in June 2019. The tune was eventually nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Duo. One month later, they were seen holding hands in West Hollywood, California, and kissing in San Francisco. Shawn later declared they were an official relationship in October when playing in Australia, according to People.
‘We started our relationship as best friends’
The couple announced their split in a joint statement in November 2021, writing, "Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."
Shawn has taken time out for himself since then, canceling his Wonder World Tour in July 2022, citing the need to "take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger." He has subsequently been signed as a Tommy Hilfiger brand ambassador, most notably traveling to the United Kingdom and Mexico for the designer. Shawn has been romantically linked to chiropractor Jocelyn Miranda, 51, and actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter, 23.
When Camila's most recent album, 'Familia', was released in April 2022, it debuted at number ten. The Cuban-American singer is back in the music scene after splitting up with Lox Club dating app co-founder Austin Kevitch earlier this year.
