Calista Flockhart forced to sit behind husband Harrison Ford at Cannes when he received Palme d'Or
CANNES, FRANCE: Harrison Ford reportedly went to the Cannes Film Festival with his wife Calista Flockhart on Thursday night, May 18. The pair made a stunning entry as they posed for photographers while walking the red carpet. It was a special night for them as Ford’s ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ premiered at the festival.
While the 80-year-old actor chose a black tuxedo suit, a white shirt, and a large bow tie for the event, his actress wife donned a black tulle gown pairing it with a structured bodice and long A-line skirt. However, the couple were in for a not-so-pleasant surprise when they went looking for their seats inside the Palais des Festivals.

The pair, who have been married for more than a decade, were not given seats beside each other. The 58-year-old Flockhart was actually provided with a seat behind her husband. HELLO! reported that ‘The Fugitive’ star tried to make his wife feel better by saying, “You're right behind me, look! Well, that's the way it is.'
‘I'm very moved by this'
There was a reason behind the odd seating arrangement apparently. Ford “had to be sat between the director, James Mangold, and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays Helena Shaw in the film, a role which was written with her in mind.” Before the premiere of the film, scheduled to release on June 30, the cultural icon was honored with the Palme d'Or.
Ford reportedly said, “I'm very touched. I'm very moved by this. They say when you're about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes. I just saw my life flash before my eyes. A great part of my life, not all of my life. My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passion and my dreams, and I'm grateful.”
‘I have always wanted to adopt a child’
As per reports, Ford and Flockhart met each other at the 59th Golden Globe Awards in 2002. Eight years later in 2010, they tied the knot. Before he wed the ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ actress, Ford was married twice and was father to four children. However, after getting together with Flockhart, he also became the father to Liam Flockhart, whom they adopted in 2001.
She had once reportedly said, “I have always wanted to adopt a child and I am overjoyed that I have been blessed with a beautiful and healthy son. I'm completely enchanted and awe-struck.”
At the time, Flockhart also stated that she’s got a “supportive company that offers a wonderful child-care facility, enabling me to spend a lot of time with my son while I'm working.” Besides, the publicist for her added at the time that Flockhart “intends on keeping her new family life very private, [but] she has revealed that she plans on giving birth someday and may adopt another child.”
