Former ‘American Idol’ contestant Caleb Kennedy was arrested on Tuesday, February 8 following a deadly crash in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He has been accused of crashing his car into a man who reportedly died later after sustaining serious injuries, as published by WSPA-TV. According to the reports, the singer-songwriter has been charged with felony DUI.
The 17-year-old crooner, who was one of the top five contestants on the 19th season of the singing reality show, apparently drove a 2011 Ford pickup truck into a workshop behind a home as revealed by the Pacolet Fire Department. The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Larry Duane Parris. Caleb Kennedy was all over the news during his stint on ‘American Idol 19’ as he had to leave the show in the middle after he got embroiled in a social media scandal.

Caleb Kennedy got behind the bars after he rammed his Ford truck into a man after running off the road into a private driveaway around 12.30 pm. The singer crashed into a workshop behind a house hitting the individual who later breathed his last in a hospital. Caleb too was treated for injuries he sustained during the fatal crash.
The reality show contestant, who is currently being in the Spartanburg County Detention Center, was charged with felony DUI resulting in death. According to reports, his bond hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday morning. If Caleb is found guilty he could be imprisoned for up to 25 years. Calen Kennedy, who studied at Dorman High School, was invited to audition in front of the judges of ‘American Idol 19’ after he bowled them over with Marshall Tucker Band's song 'Can't You See' and Luke Combs' song 'When it Rains it Pours'.
Caleb Kennedy left the singing reality show in the middle after a video of him surfaced showing him sitting next to someone who was wearing a head covering resembling a Ku Klux Klan hood. The country singer recorded the video on Snapchat sometime in 2018 and claimed that he was 12 years old when he filmed the video. He had denied every single claim saying he was really young and "did not think about the actions" when he pulled out his phone to create the video. After quitting the show, the singer in a statement said that he "displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way. I was younger and did not think about the actions, but that's not an excuse” adding, “I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everyone who I have let down. I pray that I can one day regain your trust in who I am and have your respect! Thank you for supporting me”, as reported by CBS News.
