"After fulfilling my duty to the country, I will return": BTOB's Seo Eunkwang announces military enlistment
BTOB’S Seo Eunkwang - famously known as Eunkwang - is about to enlist in the military this month. The news was announced by a source from Cube Entertainment, on August 6, as reported by Soompi. They stated: “Eunkwang will be enlisting on August 21 as an active duty soldier. As Eunkwang himself wishes to enlist quietly, we have decided not to announce his enlistment location and time.”
Eunkwang himself announced the news about joining the military through his agency and also apologized to his fans for not keeping his promises: “I’m very sorry to the fans who felt surprised by the news of my enlistment. I’ve made many promises to my fans, so I feel apologetic and regretful towards the ones I couldn’t keep. After fulfilling my duty to the country, I will return in good health and keep the broken promises,” he said.
At just 27 years old, 1990 born Eunkwang happens to be the first member of BTOB to explore his career in the military via listing for it. He is currently busy participating in the musical 'Barnum: The Greatest Showman.' A certain source from the same musical revealed it to Soompi: “We are currently in the process of figuring out Seo Eunkwang’s appearance schedule. He will participate [in the musical] until he enlists and will appear in the press call as planned.”
Eunkwang has been leading the boy group BTOB since their debut in 2012, with their promotional single -'Insane.' Apart from music, he has also ventured into several variety shows, and most recently - he joined the 'Law of the Jungle' in Mexico as a cast member. his participation in musicals include productions like 'The Count of Monte Cristo,' 'Hamlet,' 'Three Musketeers,' apart from 'Barnum.'
With his band members Hyunsik, Changsub, and Sungjae, Eunkwang had just released a new song called 'When It Rains' as BTOB-Blue on August 2. His final concert with his bandmates will be the 2018 BTOB Time – This Is Us concerts on August 10 to 12 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena.
A for their participation in the lineup of Hallyu Pop Fest 2018 scheduled on September 7 to 9 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium - the rest of the band will have to continue with the event without Eunkwang.
