SMOOTH AS SILK CUT: Bruno Mars shocks fans as he lights up a cigarette on Grammys stage
Bruno Mars lit up a cigarette on stage while accepting his prize for Record of the Year at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, April 3, leaving fans speechless. The 36-year-old singer took home the award as a member of the R&B group Silk Sonic, which also comprises Bruno and rapper Anderson. Paak, for their upcoming album, Leave the Door Open in 2021.
Bruno stuck a cigarette in his mouth after coming up in front of the audience to accept the award, which some music fans found more shocking than Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars last month.

They hugged upon hearing their name called out by country artist Keith Urban before dancing their way out of their seats and receiving the prized award for their 2021 breakthrough Leave the Door Open, just hours after winning Song of the Year at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Anderson said after winning, "Listen, listen, listen. We are really trying hard to remain humble at this point. But in the industry, we call that a clean sweep! All right? To all the other nominees, we love y'all. We love y'all! Drinks is on Silk Sonic tonight. We're getting drunk! I know a lot of y'all fans might be upset so we're gonna get out here before the Internet gets talking!"
Anderson, who, along with Bruno, beat over ABBA, Olivia Rodrigo's Drivers License, and Billie Eilish's Happier than Ever to win their fourth award of the night and open the ceremony with a performance of their song 777, joked that the 'drinks would be on them.' Bruno Mars added, "We love you! Goodnight!"
The song was the main winner of the night, winning four Grammys in all, including Best R&B Performance in a tie with Jazmine Sullivan's Pick Up Your Feelings, which won Best R&B Performance as well. Bruno told his co-star after winning Song of the Year, "I couldn’t be more proud to be doing this with than anyone other than you. Because of you, we’ll be singing this song together for the rest of our lives. So God bless you all."
