Brooks Nader: Stranger slips Apple device in swimsuit model's coat, tracks her till her home
Swimsuit model Brooks Nader recently revealed she had the 'scariest moment' of her life after she discovered that a stranger had put Apple AirTag, a tracking device, inside her coat and tracked her all the way home for five hours. The tracking device was put on her at the Odeon bar in Tribeca, New York City, on Wednesday, January 5.
Brooks, 26, said she didn't realize that AirTag had been concealed in her coat until hours later after she received a notification on her phone telling her an unknown item had been moving with her for a while and that the owner could see its location. The model has shared the notification screenshot on her Instagram Stories.

The Sports Illustrated model wrote alongside the screenshot, "I never share stuff like this but what the F does this mean. This device followed me for the last five hours to every location and there was no one in my network. It also wasn't a phone or tablet, it was an item." She warned her followers about the dangers of the tracker, stating that anyone could slip one into their pockets and can use it to track their movements.
Apple AirTag is a device the helps people keep track of items that is often misplaced like keys or wallet. One can attach it to almost anything, and using the app, one can see where the item is located at all times.
Brooks added in her second post, "@Apple, did you take into consideration the danger and potentially fatal consequences this device has?". Warning about the danger, Brooks wrote, "Ladies, check your bag, coat, pockets, and surroundings. Disturbed isn't even the word," she added.
Narrating the incident to DailyMail, Nader said, "basically, my coat was on the barstool at the Odeon in Tribeca, which was my first location. I went to bathroom, left my coat on the chair and that's when I think someone slipped it in. They then followed me for five hours all the way home." Brooks also added, "I hope that my story can help raise awareness and encourage ladies to look out for this notification and keep their belongings close, especially when out and about."
"I never thought anything like this could happen to me and it did. If this does happen to you and you find an AirTag, immediately call the police and Apple to track the perpetrator." She added, "As women, we need to stick together and warn each other of situations like these."
In one final Instagram post, the model shared, "Another side note for my ladies, I learned my lesson the hard way. If you're going to post at a restaurant, drinking with your girlfriends, working out, whatever you're doing — if it has a location that's obvious or geotagged, wait until you leave to post it."
