Brittany Parker: Pet monkey shot dead after he almost rips Oklahoma woman's ear and hair off her head
DICKSON, OKLAHOMA: A family member has shot and killed a pet monkey that attacked a woman in her front yard, cutting her ear in half and ripping off her hair. Brittany Parker was inside her home in Dickson, Oklahoma, when she noticed a monkey attempting to enter the building from the porch.
At first, it just seemed curious. "I had actually FaceTimed some family and I was like, ‘look there’s a monkey,’” Parker said. “He was pacing back and then he was jumping off of my railing and hitting my storm door,” KXII reported.

'The monkey was trying to get into my house'
"The monkey was trying to get into my house," Parker told FOX 25. "The little button that you push in on the screen door, he broke it off. I was literally hanging onto my door trying to hold it closed." She had to contact 911 as the monkey began acting aggressively and tearing up portions of the door as she attempted to keep it out.
'Monkeys are not a normal thing for us'
Tim Duncan, the chief of police in Dickson, claimed that in his 20 years in law enforcement, he has received numerous calls about animals on the loose, but never about a monkey. Officers weren't certain they had understood the call correctly, according to Duncan. “It’s Oklahoma, it happens,” Duncan said, according to the report. “We get animal-related calls all the time. It’s something that we deal with, it’s just that monkeys are not a normal thing for us.”
'He ripped my ear almost completely off of my head'
The monkey, according to Parker, had calmed down and was behaving nicely as the police officers arrived. After that, she and her child left the house. Parker was attacked by the monkey as she exited. "He jumped up on my back and landed on my head," Parker told a local news outlet. "He started grabbing handfuls of hair and just ripped it out. He ripped my ear almost completely off of my head."
Two shots were fired
The monkey ran off soon after the attack and Parker was taken to the hospital and given a rabies shot. "As we were looking for the primate, two shots were fired," Dickson police chief Tim Duncan said. "The shots came from the area of the victim's residence. Officers went back to the house and found that a family member of the victim shot and killed the primate."
"It was all very scary," Parker said. "It was very traumatizing." Parker is not able to work because of her injury and the attack has left her worried for her family as her son loves to play outside. The owner of the money whose name hasn't been released has said his name was Jack. Investigators say they will turn the case over to the district attorney.
