LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears has reportedly not seen her teenager sons for over a year, after a public disagreement with them regarding her behavior on social media. Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, have reportedly been estranged from their mother for more than a year and there has been no indication of a reconciliation between them.

"By the end of the summer [2022], tensions got so bad that the boys weren’t even responding to her texts. And she was furious," TMZ producer Katie Hayes claimed in the documentary 'Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom'. According to a source who spoke with Page Six, the last time Britney saw her sons was at the beginning of 2022, before her wedding to Sam Asghari.

Britney Spears' strained relationship with her sons

Britney's connection with her sons had been deteriorating for some time, before reaching a boiling point in August 2022, with Jayden's public denouncement of her parenting abilities being the tipping point. "I think Mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love; I don’t think she showed enough to Preston, and I feel really bad for that," Jayden told the Daily Mail at the time.

Kevin Federline, the father of the boys, claimed that Spears' habit of sharing half-naked photos of herself on social media worsened the situation. "I try to explain to them, 'Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.' But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them," he said. Federline added, "It’s tough. I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."

Britney soon expressed her sadness about the way her son spoke about her to the media. "It deeply saddens me to know [Jayden’s] outcry of saying I wasn’t up to his expectations of a mother … and maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly !!!!" she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post in September 2022. After Britney posted several social media messages directed at her sons, Federline retaliated by posting videos of her allegedly yelling at the boys, as previously reported by MEAWW. These videos were taken without her knowledge.

Britney Spears and her sons may be ready to move on

However, after a period of estrangement, it seems that the Spears-Federline family may be ready to move on from the drama. "Recently, there have been occasional texts between Britney and her kids, so maybe the ice is thawing a bit," TMZ’s Charles Latibeaudiere claimed. Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said during the documentary, "They love their mother, and they hope that the relationship will improve going forward so that everyone is comfortable, but right now, that is a dynamic that doesn’t seem to be in existence."
