Harry Styles robbed at knifepoint on Valentine's Day hours before hearing about ex Caroline Flack's death
Former One Direction singer Harry Styles was robbed at knifepoint on Valentine's Day hours before hearing the news of ex-girlfriend Caroline Flack's death. Styles was left shaken, although, according to reports, he is now doing "okay".
The 26-year-old 'Adore You' singer was on a night out in Hampstead, London when he was confronted by the robber. The police are currently investigating, but there have been no arrests.
Styles kept his cool and acted quickly, trying to keep the situation calm, as he gave his cash to the robber, and was fortunately unharmed. According to a Mirror Online source, Harry Styles "actually played it pretty cool, quickly giving the assailant cash, keeping himself and the guy calm and getting the situation over with". The source added, "Understandably though it left him very shaken up afterwards."
The London police confirmed that it was investigating the incident. “Officers were contacted on Saturday, 15 February regarding the incident which happened at 23.50 hours on Friday, 14 February,” they said. “It was reported that a man in his 20s was approached by another man and threatened him with a knife. The victim was not injured however, cash was taken from him.”
The robbery took place a mere few hours before the body of Flack, Styles' ex, was found at her London home on Saturday, February 15. According to The New York Times, Flack had committed suicide. Styles met Flack when she hosted 'The Xtra Factor', which is a companion show to 'The X Factor UK', on which his boy band One Direction was formed. The former couple had a 14-year age difference and dated from November 2011 to January 2012.
Despite being left "shaken", Styles showed up at the BRIT Awards on February 18 and appeared to pay tribute to his ex by wearing a small black ribbon on the lapel of his suit. He had been nominated for British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year for Fine Line. "Given how Caroline took her own life the next day, the pressures of a new album and a performance at the BRIT Awards this evening, it's fair to say this is the last thing poor old Harry needed," the Mirror Online source said.
Styles described Flack as "one of the kindest, sweetest people I know" after their breakup in 2012 in a tweet, according to Us Weekly. He has yet to publicly comment on the TV presenter’s tragic passing.
