PALERMO, ITALY: 'Brigands: The Quest for Gold', the six-episode action-adventure drama, premiered on Netflix on Tuesday, April 23.
The Italian series is set in the 1860s and follows a woman who flees the village and joins a gang of brigands to recover the coveted treasure while revolting against the oppressive state leaders.
'Brigands: The Quest for Gold' introduces Michela De Rossi as Filomena, a devoted wife to master Clemente Degli Orti (Gianni Vastarella). However, certain events on a night change the couple's fate forever.
Who kills Clemente Degli Orti in 'Brigands: The Quest for Gold' Episode 1?
Filomena, a kind-hearted woman, endured a poverty-stricken life until her marriage to the wealthy Master Clemente. When one of the kids in her village falls ill, Filomena meets the kid's mother and offers some clean water and other supplies from her mansion.
However, Clemente, disapproving of Filomena's act of bringing a poor woman to their residence, reacts in anger. He shoots the woman and then brutally assaults Filomena, throwing her into the well.
Filomena survives and returns to her room. However, in a fit of rage, she stabs her husband to death.
Sparrowhawk gets arrested in 'Brigands: The Quest for Gold' Episode 1
In 'Brigands: The Quest for Gold' Episode 1, we see Sparrowhawk, the bounty hunter, being arrested by the State. Despite not being directly involved in the crime, his presence at the scene implicates him, especially as Filomena flees, leaving him behind.
On the night of the murder, Sparrowhawk visits Clemente's mansion to search for clues that could lead him to the treasure. He not only failed in his mission but also landed in jail for a crime he didn't commit.
Fumel (Pietro Micci), however, aware of Sparrowhawk's innocence, offers him a chance at freedom. To free himself, Sparrowhawk must find Filomena, who has vanished after killing her husband.
In the upcoming episode, we'll see Sparrowhawk going to Mignamo via prison transfer, to locate Filomena. Only her capture will ensure Sparrowhawk's freedom and will pave his way to the gold.
Meanwhile, capturing Filomena is going to get trickier as she has joined the formidable Monaco gang.
