NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Baton Rouge artist Boosie Badazz believes Nas and Jay-Z's time in the spotlight is dissolving. He said he never hears Jay or Nas' tracks being played when he goes into clubs with people in their 30s, which is apparently a clear sign that they have been replaced. The rapper made these remarks on the hot seat over at VladTV.

Boosie's remarks came after 21 Savage’s controversial comments about Nas, where he said Nas was not relevant among the younger generation. “What y’all saying relevant, though? I don’t feel like he’s relevant. I just feel like he got fans. … He’s not relevant. He just has a loyal-ass fan base and he still make good-ass music,” said 21 in mid-November.

In his recent interview, Boosie weighed in on 21's comments. “[Nas] just won a Grammy at that age, last year. His records are still doing great,” Boosie said, explaining 21 was just measuring relevance by social media presence. “He’s definitely relevant to his fanbase. He’s still making music, he’s still doing that, then he’s still relevant. I think [21] was looking at it on a young n***a’s perspective.”

DJ Vlad agreed Nas was legendary. However, he went on to point how out the rapper does not dominate the charts and has not been able to compete with bigger artists. “I just can’t say he’s relevant as far as today’s [music]. … He doesn’t have a Taylor Swift machine behind him,” Boosie said. “I’m telling you. Nas is great, but he doesn’t have the machine, or he’s not listening to the machine that can make him do more numbers.”

Vlad said he believes for a rapper who is more than 50 years old, it is difficult to stay on top. However, he said 52-year-old Jay-Z is an exception. Boosie disagreed, saying, "Jay-Z’s not relevant these days for music. I don’t. If you’re gonna say Jay-Z is relevant and Nas ain’t relevant? No.”

Boosie said, “When I go to these clubs in Atlanta—these 25-to-35 clubs—I’m not hearing Nas, I’m not hearing Jay-Z. Every club I go in, it’s not one or the other…Jay-Z is respected by these people for being that boss that he is. It ain’t his songs flashing across no fu****’ social media, it’s his hustle.”

Social media has now slammed Boosie for saying Jay-Z is irrelevant. "His opinion is his opinion. On that note though I don’t know a single person who even or has ever listened to Boosie," one user wrote on Twitter. Another said, "Right. The market is much bigger than just the club when it comes to rap music." "Well that tells us about Boosie's music taste lol," said one user.

"Their music isn’t created to be played in a damn club smh," one user wrote, while another said, "Boosie still touring on the chitlin circuit and doing nightclubs while Jay Z selling out football stadiums and arenas. Let’s post Boosie’s record sales next to Jay Z’s record sales." "Jay Z and Nas still have a following from their generation, their generation isn’t in the club tho, we are all 40-50 years old. So relevant to who? The new artist are relevant to their generation same as the old are to theirs everything isn’t for everybody," one user said.
