Just as fans of the adult animated comedy-drama 'BoJack Horseman' were starting to get restless for an update on the show, Netflix released the trailer of the long-awaited Season 6. Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, 'BoJack Horseman' follows Will Arnett's BoJack, a washed-up Hollywoo (after he stole the 'D' as a romantic gesture) star from the 90s and his struggle to stay relevant and make a comeback. Through its protagonist and main supporting cast, the series also discusses some major issues around mental health, depression, anxiety and, in its last seasons kept the conversation around Me Too and the Times Up movement going.

Here is everything you need to know about the final, Season 6 of 'BoJack Horseman.'

Release date

Season 6 of 'BoJack Horseman' is going to come out in two parts with part 1 releasing on October 25, 2019, and part 2 on January 31, 2020.

Plot

According to the official synopsis provided by Netflix, 'BoJack Horseman' is a show about "the failed legendary 90s sitcom star from the favorite family sitcom 'Horsin’ Around', who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whiskey, and failed relationships. Now, in the presence of his human sidekick Todd (Aaron Paul) and his feline agent and ex-paramour Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), BoJack is primed for his comeback..."

While these synopses are pretty outdated, it encapsulates where the show had started and how the storyline sustained itself through the seasons. At the end of the last season, BoJack is outside a rehab facility with Diane (Alison Brie) after he finally decided to get the help he needed to get better.

Cast

Will Arnett as BoJack Horseman

Will Arnett attends The MOMS "Teen Titans Go! To The Movies" Special Screening on July 10, 2018 in New York City.

As BoJack Horseman, Will Arnett stars as a self-loathing alcoholic horse, who is currently in his 50s, but starred in a successful family sitcom in the 90s called 'Horsin' Around.' Arnett's portrayal of BoJack garnered not just praise from audiences and critics but also won him accolades - he won an Annie Award at the 46th Annie Awards. Arnett also serves as an executive producer on the show.

The actor is best known for his character of George Oscar 'Gob' Bluth II in 'Arrested Development' - a role that got him a nomination for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a comedy series. His performance of Devon Banks on Tina Fey's '30 Rock' earned him four Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Star in a Comedy Series nominations.

Aaron Paul as Todd

Aaron Paul attends "Welcome Home" Premiere at The London West Hollywood on November 04, 2018 in West Hollywood, California.

Aaron Paul plays the role of Todd Chavez, a 24-year-old slacker who just happens to end up at BoJack's home for a Halloween party five years before the series started and then never left. The two generate a close but undulating friendship over the years with Todd always hoping BoJack gets the help he needs to get better.

Paul is best known for his role of Jesse Pinkman in 'Breaking Bad', a role for which he received several accolades including the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama series, Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor - Series, Miniseries or Television Film and Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

The actor is set to reprise his role of Pinkman in the upcoming film 'El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie', which is set to stream on Netflix on October 11, 2019.

Sedaris plays the role of Princess Carolyn, BoJack's former agent and his on and off girlfriend. At the end of Season 5, she is expecting a baby after wishing to be a mother for the longest time. The trailer to Season 6 shows her struggling with all the roles of a single mother to a newborn baby.

Sedaris is best known for her role as Princess Carolyn.  On 'Strangers with Candy', she played the role of Jerri Blank. She was also seen on 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' as Mimi Kanasis.

Alison Brie as Diane Nguyen

Diane's character is often described as the moral compass of the show. She plays the role of BoJack's biographer and eventually becomes one of his closest friends. At the end of Season 5, after pushing BoJack to realize that his bad past is not an excuse for him to be bad to others, she helps him get to rehab.

Brie is best known for her role of Annie on 'Community', Trudy in 'Mad Men' and Ruth Wilder in 'Glow', a role for which she received nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

Paul F Tompkins as Mr Peanutbutter

Mr Peanutbutter is an energetic yellow Labrador Retriever, BoJack's former rival and Diane's husband till they get divorced. He shares an exceptionally good friendship with Todd and exhibits a warm, likable positive attitude. In the trailer for Season 6, it looks like his positive attitude is slowly deteriorating and that he might be struggling with depression.

Paul F Tompkins is best known for his work on 'Mr. Show with Bob and David', 'Real Time with Bill Maher', and 'Best Week Ever with Paul F Tomkins'.

Creators

Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg

Raphael is best known for creating 'BoJack Horseman'. His last series 'Undone', released on Amazon Prime Video, used rotoscopic animation to unveil a mystery series interspersed with his signature subjects of existentialism, mental health and life nuggets. He has also served as the executive producer on 'Tuca & Bertie'.

Trailers

The first trailer was released on September 27, 2019, and it was captioned: "It's safe to say Horsin' Around won't be BoJack Horseman's only lasting legacy. The final two-part season airs October 25 and January 31."

The final trailer for ‘BoJack Horseman’ Season 2 Part 2, that airs on Netflix on January 31, dropped on Wednesday, January 15. The trailer shows a grey-haired, older, and wiser BoJack at the Wesleyan University in Connecticut where he now teaches acting.

In the trailer, “Professor Horseman” says, “I made a lot of mistakes. But I look back at that other BoJack and I think: Who is that? I’ve had a lot of what I thought were rock bottoms only to discover other, rockier bottoms underneath. I used to feel like my whole life was an acting job, doing an impression of the people I saw on television, which was just a projection of a bunch of equally screwed up writers and actors. I felt like a xerox of a xerox of a person.”

We also see Princess Carolyn, Mr. Peanutbutter, Pickles, Diane and Todd in the trailer. It ends with BoJack trying to erase his name from a whiteboard. And after a couple of attempts, he realizes he can’t. “Aaaand that's a sharpie,” says BoJack, underlying the theme of the whole show: You can’t undo your mistakes. You can only move past them.
