BERLIN, GERMANY: Imagine a night full of games and fun, with you and your friends enjoying the night, but such evenings can bring a lot of disasters, which is precisely what unfolds in Netflix's newest film, 'Balme the Game'.
The romantic comedy film, directed by Marco Petry, follows Jan (Dennis Mojen), a charming working-class gentleman, as he navigates the wealthy world of his love, Pia's (Janina Uhse) friends when he chooses to join her for a game night.
A regular gaming night takes an unexpected turn as egos collide and secrets are exposed.
As the story proceeds, we see Jan and Pia's ex-boyfriend Mathias (Stephan Luca) competing in a table tennis battle to make the other feel down, and unsurprisingly, Jan wins, causing Mathias to gulp down an entire bottle of chilly sauce.
Pia reprimands Jan of his childish competitions, and they both argue.
Suddenly, Mathias steps in and deliberately discloses the details of his and Pia's kiss, which breaks Jan's heart and causes him to leave the premises.
What happens with Jan in 'Blame the Game'?
After leaving the house, Alex (Edin Hasanović) realizes he has misplaced the key while searching for the rare parrot Helmut Kohl.
The duo then returns to grab the keys, but since it is dark outside, they become ensnared in the trap and hang in the air.
On the other hand, the friends dispute inside the home, with Pia calling out Oliver (Axel Stein) for inviting Mathias to the party.
The friends begin to dispute when Pia gets a call from Mathias, who cries drunkenly while driving, and it is later revealed that the idiotic guy was truly headed to the zoo to prove his bravery.
On the other side, Alex and Jan continue to dangle in midair, which causes Jan to recognize that if he is killed, he will not be able to communicate his genuine feelings to Pia, prompting him to attempt to escape the trap, but with no beneficial consequences.
Did Jan and Pia reconcile in 'Blame the Game'?
Fortunately for Jan and Alex, the neighbor man appears with Helmut Kohl in his hand and frees them.
Jan then returns to the home with the unconscious bird and Alex to apologize to Pia, but Kurt (Max Bretschneider) informs him that the friends have gone to the zoo to get Mathias. Hearing this, Jan rushes to the spot.
In the car, Pia expresses to Karo (Anna Maria Mühe) that she does not want to work with her and is content on her own path, which Karo also appreciates.
When they get to the zoo, they discover that Mathias is nowhere to be found.
The tension rises further when Oliver notices Jan approaching and scolds him for losing his bird, but he also quickly gains his affection when Jan informs him that he has retrieved his bird.
Later, they discover Mathias's phone in the tiger pit, and since Jan blames himself for the situation, he resolves to go get the man.
As he scans the tiger pit, he sees a sleeping tiger but cannot locate Mathias, so he scales the wall to escape the pit but unfortunately, he fails to come out of it.
Pia remains with him as the others seek rope to get him out.
In a moment of deep communication, both settle their differences and as the tiger approaches Jan, Kurt steps in with the rope, rescuing the guy in a nick of the time.
At the same moment, Mathias emerges and declares that he was vomiting, that's why couldn't go down the tiger pit.
Later, Oliver discloses to Karo that he is not in a relationship with Gabriela (Alfonsina Bencosme) but is learning the dance for their anniversary to surprise her.
Sheila (Taneshia Abbot), on the other hand, eventually ends her relationship with her girlfriend.
Finally, the film jumps forward four weeks to Jan's home, where all of the friends have gathered to celebrate their gaming night.
