Laundrie was found responsible for Gabby Petito’s 2021 death after she disappeared on a trip with him

The Virginia court has given its verdict in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation case that saw six weeks of blockbuster drama but it seems their fans are not done yet. While the 58-year-old actor’s enthusiasts are hailing him as a warrior, his ex-wife’s supporters have strangely compared him to Brian Laundrie --the Florida man who killed his girlfriend Gabby Petito on a cross-country trip in 2021 before taking his own life.

Petito’s body was found in September last year after she went missing in August. She had suffered “blunt-force injuries to the head and neck, with manual strangulation”. Her 23-year-old boyfriend also went missing before his remains were discovered in October. Later, it was determined that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The case created quite an uproar across the US with many people requesting girls and women to report their abusive partners on time before it’s too late.

Now, several of Heard’s fans have tried to imply that Laundrie and Depp have similarities. One such fan, who goes by @k4mi1laa username on Twitter, suggested in a lengthy thread: “can’t believe that after the Gabby Petito case, in which her fiancé convinced the cops that he was the victim, ppl now believe that a 23 yr old actress just starting her career somehow abused a multimillionaire A lister twice her age that has another trial for assault next month.”

They continued: “Brian Laundrie was making jokes and laughing with the cops while he watched his fiancé get arrested for supposedly abusing him. Johnny Depp was making jokes and laughing with the court room while he painted his ex wife as the abuser. When Gabby Petito’s case became public, there was an ongoing conversation about how victims are perceived as hysterical and unstable, while abusers typically remain calm. It’s absurd how just months later, the culture has shifted back to being willingly uneducated about DV.”

“In 2021, cops deemed Gabby Petito a ‘hysterical woman’ in the report. In 2022, non board certified psychologist Dr Shannon Curry diagnosed Amber Heard with Hysteria after only 12 hours of evaluation. Dr Curry faced a lot of criticism from the psychologist community,” @k4mi1laa said, before adding: “Abusers accusing their victims of being abusers is very common, this is known to domestic violence experts as ‘DARVO’ which stands for “Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender”. The expert who coined the term recognizes that Johnny and his legal team have been using DARVO. Domestic abuse victims are currently being gaslighted by the public into believing that if we hit back or if we act unstable or if our abuser happens to be a charming individual that makes us less of a victim. There are no ‘perfect victims’. Please remember that.”

@k4mi1laa also clarified that “this thread isn’t me trying to say Johnny Depp is a murderer or saying that he is equivalent to Brian Laundrie. I’m simply saying that most abusers use the same playbook. The reason why so many people support Johnny is because the public is uneducated on domestic violence.”

Another fan of the 36-year-old actress wrote, “Both Gabby Petito and Amber Heard protected themselves against their abusers, but Brian Laundrie and Johnny Depp are such manipulators and liars that they led everyone around them, including close friends, to believe that the women abused them and the men were the victims.” “Anybody else get Brian Laundrie vibes from Johnny Depp? Remember how Gabby Petito was so turned around that the police actually had her believing she was the abuser? Gabby ended up murdered in the woods. Amber escaped thank God. #GABBYPETITO #istandwithamber,” the third one added.

But soon Depp’s fans took the charge to slam Heard as well as her supporters as one of them tweeted: “#AmberHeardIsAPsychopath & so are her #IStandWithAmberHeard lunatics. bRiAn lAuNdRiE WaS SmIlInG LiKe jOhNnY DePp BUT AMBER DID NOT CRY LIKE GABBY PETITO: WHERE WERE TURD’S TEARS???? #AmberHeardIsALiar.” The second one shockingly asked, “Just seen a thread arguing that because Brian Landrie killed Gabby Petito that Johnny Depp MUST have abused Amber Herd. Did this person not listen to the same court case the rest of us did?” The third one turned the table around and claimed: “Johnny Depp went through is the same as Gabby Petito in a sick way. Amber Heard is same as Brian Laundrie. #JusticeForJohnnyDepp #JohnnyDeppIsInnocent #IStandWithJohnnyDepp #JohnnyDepp #AmberHeardIsALiar #AmberHeardIsAnAbuser #AmberHeardDeservesPrison #AmberHeard.” 

“brian laundrie was an abuser and a murderer. he lied to the police to deflect blame and cover for his crime. johnny depp was in an abusive relationship with amber heard and the two of them abused each other. there is a ton of recordings to prove this. there is no comparison,” a tweet read.
