Beulr on 'Shark Tank': Who is the founder, what is the cost and how can you be in two places at once virtually
Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, remote learning and remote-working have become a part and parcel of our lives. Although remote learning/ working has its own set of pros like working from the comfort of your bed in your pajamas to the few extra minutes of snooze time that would have been wasted in commuting, there are a few cons too. One of the biggest drawbacks of remote working is the endless meetings that we have to sit in through the course of the day and for students the dreaded early morning class.
If you ever found yourself wishing for somebody else to attend a meeting or a class on your behalf, while you carry on with your other important duties then an application called Beulr might just be what you're looking for. What is Beulr?
'Harry Potter' fans may be familiar with the Time-Turner necklace that Hermione Granger used to juggle between multiple classes happening at the same time. Although we may not have access to the magical Time-Turner to help us be in two places at once, Beulr is the closest invention to the Time-Turner in our muggle world. Beulr is a meeting bot that can be used to attend online meetings on your behalf, allowing you to virtually be in two places at once.
You simply have to schedule the meeting or class time in the app, enter your Zoom account info (optional but you’ll show up as a guest if you don’t), and enter the Zoom meeting ID. Voila, and a bot will attend the meeting on your behalf. You don’t even need to be at your computer or even have it on. The app's founder Solimine however cautions the users to use the bot for meetings where attendance is not taken, video of attendees is not required, and live participation is not expected.
The app's name is inspired by the cult-favorite 1986 movie- 'Ferris Bueller’s Day Off', which features the protagonist coming up with several plans to skip school and go on adventures. Beulr pays homage to the film, as the app was originally created to help the founder get some extra snooze time and skip the early morning classes.
Who is the founder?
Peter Solimine is the founder and creator of Beulr application. According to the brand's website, Beulr was created as a dorm room project by two Zoom University students who realized they could time-shift their early morning classes. They decided to create a software application that would attend their classes for them. When they realized that there were millions of students in a similar situation, they made the software accessible through their website.
Solimine is currently a student of BS in Economics at Tulane University.
What is the cost and where to get Beulr from?
Currently, the app is free to use, but there will be a cost when they complete the promised premium features. You can sign up for Beulr on their website here.
Where is Beulr now?
Beulr currently boasts of over 97k satisfied users, 900k+ meetings attended, and 765k hours saved since its launch. The Beulr team is currently developing a program that will not only attend but also record and transcribe meetings and also working on having a video loop of you to show on the screen.
Who will steal the deal?
Mr. Wonderful aka Kevin O'Leary or Robert Herjavec might steal the deal. Although the brand's sales numbers and profit margins will ultimately be the major deciding factor for the sharks on whether to invest in the business or not. So, we will just have to wait and watch to see if the Sharks even make a deal.
