Spoilers for 'Betty' Episode 1 'Key Party'

The episode involved heavy weed smoking, a tad bit of skating, a mission to find a lost phone and Camille being Camille (Rachelle Vinberg) ). It certainly was a bleak start to what could have been a potentially interesting sequel to 2018 'Skate Kitchen.' The artistic cinematography may have been the most alluring part of the premiere but didn't do too much justice to the loosely scripted 30-minutes of the episode. Fans of the movie, have awaited the premiere for "a good minute" now and while some were engaged enough to want to catch Episode 2, they were still realistic about how much this episode could have done.

"Betty on hbo couldve been better it has so much potential but that was bland and didn't engage me At all. either way imma tune in next week lmaooo. we love seeing women skating #BettyHbo," tweeted one fan. As you can see the gender construct and justice is what the series is founding its narrative on. This is the second most alluring aspect to Gen Z. From hinting at the #metoo movement to the girl power asserted in skating often construed as a male-centric sport - we see how bringing that to the forefront in the first episode sets the stage to keep viewers reeled in. Call it cinematic justice if you want.

"Cinematography, chemistry between the cast and the outfits and style. Love. Reminds me of days I've had w friends or those random adventures u go one as a young person #BettyHBO," tweeted another fan in regards to how the series seems to be using realistic aspects to create the dynamics between the characters. But was it enough? "I’m watching #BettyHBO so far I am bored,"  tweeted one user and another one tweeted, "So...#BettyHBO is decidedly not for me." It is safe to say though, that the show will have a target audience in the tweens as reported in our review and with episode one not fairing too well, there is definitely room to change some perspectives.

"No matter what, at the end of the day Camille is gonna Camille! #BettyHBO," tweeted a fan.

On the more character-centric side of things, fans were infuriated with Camille after she decidedly ditches her friends after a long ride with them helping her find her stolen backpack. "Skate kitchen camille’s behavior was forgiven bc we all act a lil different over boys sometimes  but betty camille.....what was the reason for leaving them girls at the door??? IN THE RAIN??? YOU JUST MET THEM!!! JANAY HELPED YOU FIND YO STUFF BRO!! #BettyHBO," tweeted one fan.

We're clearly going to watch Episode 2 to see if Camille gets the shade she deserves, but we're even more excited to see actual character development that could compliment the cinematography.

'Betty' airs on HBO on Fridays at 11 pm EST.
