Who was Betty Davis’ ex-husband?

Betty was married to Miles Davis. He was a trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. Betty first met the jazz musician in 1966 who was 19 years senior to her.  Miles is considered as one of the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. The two were married from 1968 to 1969. In his autobiography, Miles reportedly accused Betty of having an affair with legendary musician Jimi Hendrix and dubbed her as “too young and wild”. This reportedly led to the end of their marriage. Ironically, it was Betty who had introduced him to Jimi earlier. She also reportedly dated Eric Clapton and Robert Palmer among other rock stars.

Speaking of Betty's death, she died of natural causes at her home. Her friend in an official statement said, as reported by Deadline, “It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Betty Davis, a multi-talented music influencer and pioneer rock star, singer, songwriter, and fashion icon. Most of all, Betty was a friend, aunt, niece, and beloved member of her community of Homestead, Pennsylvania, and of the worldwide community of friends and fans.”

‘Thank you for being unapologetically YOU’

Social media users thronged to Twitter to pay their tributes to the late funk singer. “May Betty Davis rest in peace (this was so deeply painful to type). Thank you to all that you have given us”, said one user as another stated, “Today we say rest in power to singer Betty Davis (1945-2022). L Like many uncompromising, creative women, the funk-rock diva Betty Davis is often called a pioneer. She dared to be different and challenged what people taught they knew about funk, The blues and Black expression.” The next one added, “The f**king coolest. Betty Davis's three-album-run in the 1970's remains a funk high water mark. RIP.”

One user posted, “Sad as hell to hear about betty davis. rest in peace the queen of funk, the original nasty gal.” Whereas, one posted, “Betty Davis's impact on funk music is so often overlooked it’s criminal. When you hear the story of Bi**hes Brew and how it wouldn’t exist without her Power man!!! I Hate what the industry did to her but no anger today just love.” And, another concluded, “Dear Ms. Betty Davis, Thank you for everything. The funk. The feminine power. The inspiration. The forwarding thinking. Thank you for being unapologetically YOU. You will forever be apart of my life’s soundtrack, my journey into womanhood. May you Rest In Peace.”
