BET AWARDS: Kanye West branded a 'DISGRACE' after taking dig at Kim Kardashian

Making a surprise appearance, the 45-year-old rap icon took an indirect dig at his ex-wife Kim Kardashian while joking about his failed marriage

Kanye West made a surprise appearance at BET Awards held on Sunday, June 26 to honor his close friend and frequent collaborator Sean ‘Love’ Combs aka Diddy with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The ‘Donda’ hitmaker landed on stage in a mysterious avatar covering his face with a full black-stocking facial mask, a pair of shades, and a matching baseball cap along with a big hoodie. 

Kanye West, while talking about Diddy got a bit emotional as he shared that the latter had inspired him throughout his career. The 45-year-old rap icon, however, also took a subtle indirect dig at his ex-wife Kim Kardashian while joking about his failed marriage. After her divorce from Kanye, Kim Kardashian has been dating comedian and actor Pete Davidson for the last eight months.

Kanye West in his speech at BET Awards 2022 said, “How do we crown our kings? How do we appreciate our kings? To think how far we could just make it off of inspiration.” He further shared, “This is my favorite artist. You see what I'm saying? Favorite artist. Everything. Not specifically production, the drip. You know back then it was so many rules to hip hop. He broke all of them. Broke down all the doors."

Kanye while taking an indirect dig at Kim said, “I go to [Diddy] for advice to this day. He inspires so many of my choices. So many of my life choices. My wife choices. And here we are — thanks for that, Puff.” Kanye chuckled as the audience too cracked up.

Kanye further spoke about Diddy saying, “Puff is pretty persistent. But I had to think. It’s like people, they get amnesia, like I should never have to call more than one time.” He continued, “Any of us in this room, if Puff ever need us, we need to jump and be there. This man has been through and survived a lot of stuff. Broke down a lot of doors so we could be standing. I know for me, that I could be here today. He broke down so many doors of classism, taste, culture, swag. Puff, if I never told you, I love you. You’re my brother.” For those who are not aware, Kanye and Kim had attended Diddy’s 50th birthday party together in 2019. The two, however, headed in different directions after Kim filed for a divorce in February 2021.

‘Will he ever stop being mentally unstable’

“This man is crazy and he's obsessed with Kim just let her go move on man dam!!!!!!!” said one user as another shared, “I wish he did not mention that Kartrashian.” One user tweeted, “Will he ever stop being mentally unstable.” And, another posted, “Last time we saw Kanye at the BET Awards was when he brought Kim K as his date. Y’all remember that?” And, an individual concluded, “Kanye is definitely a DISGRACE to the entire music industry. He supposed to be a Spiritual Enthusiast; nowhere in the bible does it says Smokescreen your Holiness. I see why kim let him go Ye is totally CONFUSED.”
