ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA: Ben Dreyfuss, the actor son of Jaws star Richard Dreyfuss has sparked outrage on social media after he posted a Twitter thread saying that he would never date or sleep with a "fat person." Dreyfuss, who is a journalist and self-styled comedian, said that if he were dating someone and that person gains weight then he would encourage his partner to lose weight. He has worked as an editorial director for Mother Jones and has recently played the role of young Bernie Madoff in an ABC miniseries.

Responding to an unrelated article titled 'You need help: You fat-shamed your beautiful girlfriend,' the 36-year-old journalist shared his views in a multi-tweet thread on Wednesday, January 18. He announced, "That is outrageous! I've never dated a fat person! I like to think that if I was dating someone and they gained weight, I would be supportive about how they could lose it." He continued talking about his idea of a partner and told, "If I fell in love with you and we were together and you put on some weight, I truly believe that I wouldn't break up with you. I would work on it with you and we would go to a fat camp together or whatever."

He further claimed that he "slept with a fat girl once. It was 2007. I met her in a cowboy bar. She was a conservative from long island who weighed 130, maybe 140 pounds. When she texted me a week later, I told her I was bisexual to scare her off. Nowadays I don't think you can scare off any regrettable one-night stands with "I'm bi" but in 2007 you still could." He continued his 'schtick' saying that majority of the Americans are obese and said "so you can't even talk about fat vs thin without people being like 'how dare you! everyone should weigh 328 pounds". While justifying his statements and his preferences Dreyfuss said, "Look, I'm not a nice person. I don't live on some butter farm for fatsos. Don't expect me to be nice about this."

'This is just a terrible take dude'

Furious at the comedian's take on never dating a "fat person," social media slammed Dreyfuss' harsh views. One user wrote, "Jesus christ man. Were you drunk? Just, like, get off the internet for a while. How embarrassing," and someone remarked, "What a relief for them."

"We don't want you either dude nor do they so bye-bye then," a user tweeted while another opined, "It's ok that you aren't attracted to fat people. What's weird is you seem to actively despise them to the point that you wouldn't even be friends with them. You're kind of a terrible person," and someone wrote, "Hey. This is just a terrible take dude. Maybe, work on some empathy? How many "fat" people are actively working on fixing themselves right now that you're going out of the way to be terrible towards?"

"One day you'll hopefully gain emotional maturity. Obviously, today is not that day," a user opined and another tweet read, "You wouldn't break up but you would body shame them and make them feel worthless. Wow, what a saint."

"There will be a day when you realize that you have no one in your life that you're close to because no one wanted to spend time with someone this full of hatred and bile. I hope, for your sake, that happens soon enough where you can still learn to be a decent human being," someone remarked while another wrote, "Truly don’t understand this thread at all. I can’t tell if it’s a comedy bit or a blog or a confession or what. Really weird stuff"
