'I almost got fired': Bella Thorne recalls getting in trouble with Disney for wearing bikini at age 14
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bella Thorne claims that Disney Channel nearly let her go because of the backlash she received for going to the beach in a bikini at the age of 14. Between 2010 to 2013, the former child star co-starred with Zendaya on ‘Shake It Up!’ She has made cameo appearances on hit sitcoms including ‘Good Luck Charlie’ and ‘Phineas and Ferb.’ The 25-year-old actress, however, claimed that her career nearly came to an end in 2011 or 2012 after she was seen in a two-piece in a fan photo at the age of 14. Bella, who broke off her engagement in June, recalled how the photo went viral and how some people referred to her as "disgusting" in their comments.
During Tuesday’s, December 27, episode of Emily Ratajkowski’s 'High Low With EmRata' podcast, Thorne said, “One time I almost got fired off the Disney Channel because I was 14, and I wore a two-piece on the beach. This stylist that I was hanging out with put this chain on me that’s, like, a body chain. I don’t know. I don’t care. There was a fan, they got a photo of me on the beach. I almost got fired. It was all over the media, it was literally viral in that time. It was, ‘How dare this little girl do this? This is so disgusting.'”

After being "sexualized" for wearing a bikini, Bella said that people were "putting Disney under pressure to fire me," but the studio decided not to. However, she was given advice over how she should dress in the future. Bella recalled, “They were like, ‘Hey, we’re getting a lot of heat for this. Everyone’s getting heat for this because you’re in a bikini on a beach, so she needs to make sure she goes out in boy shorts and a loose T-shirt next time she’s at the beach.’”
Ratajkowski then pointed out saying, "But also, they want you to look hot on the red carpet,” to which Bella replied, "Yes. It doesn't make any sense, guys." Meanwhile, in the same interview, Bella recalled going to an audition when she was a young child and receiving "feedback" from the director as he accused her of "flirting" with him at the age of just 10. Bella slammed the director's criticism, calling it 'so insane.'
“I had a director give me feedback once and I was 10. The casting director calls my agent and the agent calls my mom, and they’re like, ‘So she’s not moving forward because the director felt like she was flirting with him, and it made him really uncomfortable. What the fuck are you talking about, man?! I don’t give a f**k what the f**k I said! I don’t care if I said, ‘Eat my pussy right now!’ She is 10 years old. Why ever would you think that?” Bella remarked.
