'Batwoman' Episode 11: Inconsistency in multiversal rules concerning Alice and her doppelgänger stumps fans

While the Arrowverse has been home to many doppelgängers for years, Beth and Alice's joint headaches seem to imply they can't co-exist on Earth-Prime

Spoiler alert for Episode 11 of 'Batwoman'

There's a section of the fandom that feels Rachel Skarsten as Alice is one of the best parts of the show and this episode of 'Batwoman' has a treat in store for them. Thanks to the events of 'Crisis on Infinite Earths,' leftover doppelgängers from the Earths that were merged have been showing up on Earth-Prime. One of them is Kate Kane's (Ruby Rose) long-lost sister, Beth (Rachel Skarsten) who on her Earth was never lost in a car crash and never grew up to become the deranged, villainous Alice. It's a joyful reunion between sisters, but it's not as simple as that. The Alice (Rachel Skarsten) of Earth-Prime is still very much around - it's twice the Rachel Skarsten for the price of one!

"Rachel Skarsten as Beth as Alice?! THIS IS A ****ING DELIGHT" exults one Twitter fan. "Can @RachieSkarsten be anymore amazing? What great actor," tweets another. Skarsten continues to inspire the fans' empathy, whether as Beth or as Alice, with one fan tweeting "what's happening to both Beths is wild. But at least one of them deserve to be happy."

Neither of them are very pleased by the episode's cliffhanger, however, as a sudden, splitting headache affects both of them at the same time. The implication is that both women existing in the same universe is not good for either of them - which is quite contradictory to the way doppelgängers otherwise work in the Arrowverse.

"How can that be the case on Batwoman and not Supergirl who had all kinds of multiples running around last week?!?!" asked one bewildered fan. 'Supergirl' has, indeed, featured multiversal doppelgängers in the wake of the Crisis showing no ill effects and the incongruence has gotten many fans who want a happier ending for Beth upset. "This should be impossible. I've never seen 2 doppelgangers sharing the same pain before," points out one tweet.

Answers for what's happening are going to have to wait, as between the Super Bowl and the Oscars, the next episode of 'Batwoman' won't be airing until February 16.
