LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When Season 3 of ‘Barry’ concluded, we knew that things were going to get darker in the fourth and final season. If you have been watching the final season, then you’ll realize how few the laughs are and viewers have to wait for a long period of time to get a funny situation. But still, we don’t have anything to complain about because of the way it is all being handled. When the last week’s episode concluded, fans might have thought Barry (Bill Hader) has finally got what he deserved and begun a new life with Sally and their son. However, ‘Barry’ won’t go out that easily and in this week’s episode, we finally got to see how other players would probably force him to do something that he has already forgotten about.

Episode 5 of the HBO series, titled ‘Tricky Legacies’, is where we see the new lives of Barry and Sally. Barry is now a stay-at-home father while Sally has started working at a diner, quite the opposite of the life she wanted. The couple has turned religious and Barry doesn’t allow his son, John, to do things that might put him in trouble. But he is a little harsh because not allowing his kid to play video games or Baseball seems to be too much. Meanwhile, the character that we almost forgot about, finally returns and has already started to annoy Barry. Yes, we are talking about Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) and he has come out of hiding. The last episode was devastating for Cousineau as well because he accidentally killed his son as he thought Barry had come to kill him.

Gene Cousineau is ready for a 'MOVIE'

It seems Gene is now ready for Barry’s story and meets Warner Bros. with a proposal and guesses what, they love it. As soon as the news of the new movie surfaces online, Sally and Barry’s life turn upside down. Sally gets the notification of the news and is dead scared whereas Barry understands what he needs to do and makes the decision of killing Gene.

This episode primarily focuses on Sally and her new life. She always wanted to be an actress and now she is donning a wig while living with a completely new name. She doesn’t feel like a mother and doesn’t show her love to her son. Sally is also dealing with sexual advances from her colleagues and everything feels like her life has now been covered by dark clouds with no sign of sunshine. Sarah Goldberg has done a phenomenal job in conveying how her life has turned 360 degrees and she is trying her best to adapt, but she still thinks of life filled with fame and money. The scene where her character confronts her colleague in the bathroom is terrifying and shows how dark Sally has become. She has forgotten what she was and is now leading a new life with a new personality.

Is the episode worth watching?

‘Tricky Legacies’ is a filler episode and this is how such episodes should be done. The ending is truly outstanding and gives us an idea that the end is near. We have never been so excited for next week and ‘Barry’, unfortunately, would have to go back to his criminal past.
