'NO INFIDELITY': Gerard Piqué and Shakira were in open relationship before split, claims source
Barcelona star Pique and Shakira reportedly had an ‘open relationship’ before their breakup. They had been together for 12 years but it's believed that Pique's affair was the reason for their breakup. One journalist has, however, recently asserted that there may be more going on between the celebrities. In reality, the two were in a non-exclusive relationship, which allowed for sex with other people, according to Antonio Aviles, who made the shocking revelation on the ‘Viva la Vida’ show. The reporter alleged, "Their agreement was 'you do what you want and I'll do what I want,’ but to present themselves as a couple to the public.”
In fact, they appeared to issue a joint statement but Aviles has questioned whether that was indeed the case. The writer continued, "Someone very very close to Pique has assured me that there was no infidelity on his part. There is a great surprise at the breakup and the statement that Shakira has sent." In a joint statement released on Saturday, June 11, the famous couple revealed their separation. The joint statement reads, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding."

According to LA Times, the couple’s romance had been on the rocks for some time due to many problems in their relationship. Carmen Lomana, a television collaborator, said that the 'Waka Waka' singer did not reside with her soccer star boyfriend during her appearance on the Ya es Medioda program. “Both had many problems and affected the couple,” Lomana said while adding that they didn’t get along well. “Being married to a footballer is not easy. There are cases of women who marry very important footballers, and they tell you that they think they are God,” she remarked.
