Before the year ends, it looks like we just might get a couple more older-gen idols making a comeback. 2021 was a treat for second-gen K-pop fans as we had reunions from popular groups like 2AM, 2PM, T-ara, SHINee and Brave Girls. There are also rumors that iconic groups like 2NE1 and BigBang are set to come back soon. We also had solo comebacks from members of inactive or disbanded groups like Infinite’s Woohyun, Highlight’s Yoseob and B.A.P’s Jongup. And now, we have another legendary idol dropping new music. B.A.P fans must be elated because, after Jongup and Zelo, we have Bang Yongguk going solo with ‘Race’.

B.A.P was a popular second-gen group that debuted in 2012. They had a dynamic discography with viral hits like ‘Warrior’ and ‘One Shot’. They achieved global success as they topped Billboard several times and were one of the K-pop groups responsible for initiating the Hallyu Wave that has taken over the world now. While they had filed a lawsuit against their label, they still released albums up till 2018 when all of their contracts expired. They went on a hiatus after this. But now, it seems that they’re slowly coming back as we have the leader of the group Yongguk dropping new music.

Yongguk releases 'Race'

Yongguk, the leader of the group first debuted as a soloist before joining B.A.P. He renewed his solo career in 2019 with the single ‘Hikikomori’. After the release of his first solo album ‘BANGYONGGUK’ in March 2019, he enlisted in the military. Following his discharge in May 2021, he launched his own agency Consent and released the single ‘Race’ on November 23. Fans were excited to see him make a come back after two years. He has participated in the making, as well as the lyric writing of the song. With a racing concept, the edgy rock song is all about how life is an endless race.

2021 is a good year for B.A.P fans as we had Jongup releasing his first-ever mini-album ‘US’. We also got a mini-reunion as some B.A.P members were featured in his TikTok challenge. Youngjae, on the other hand, has expanded his acting career as he landed roles in the popular K-dramas ‘Mr. Queen’ and ‘Police University’. We also had Zelo dropping singles in September after his last EP in 2020. Daehyun on the other hand is continuing his musical career even in the military as he was cast alongside EXO’s Chanyeol and Infinite’s L in ‘Meissa’s Song’. Since the group hasn’t 'officially' disbanded, fans were over the moon when both Jongup and Yongguk recently mentioned that there is hope of a B.A.P reunion.
