If you are over the hangover of Avengers: Infinity War, picked up the dropped jaws and managed to contain your emotions, it's high time we start talking about Avengers 4.

The sequel to the latest Marvel blockbuster, the 22nd movie in the franchise, is stirring all kinds of rumors at the moment and the most persistent one being about the movie's title. As fans would remember, thanks to a slip of the tongue, Zoe Saldana (Gamora) had seemingly revealed something about the "gauntlet" back during the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 premiere.

“We all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year,” she had said, startling fans and sending rumor mills on an overdrive.

Although Infinity War's release had somehow managed to subside the talks, the topic has once again surfaced, with new reports claiming that the working title, the one that the cast had been constantly referring to while filming the sequel, is 'Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet'.

"I have been able to confirm what the title was internally for a very long time," industry tipster Jeremy Conrad writes, "Through multiple sources I’ve received confirmation that throughout production, they really were referring to the second half of Thanos’ story as Infinity Gauntlet."

"Throughout filming that’s what they were calling the movie, but as everyone knows the title accidentally was blurted out at the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiere. That’s why they were so quick to jump on it and try to put out the fire," he adds as per reports.

It looks like, despite the best attempts, the title has somehow stuck with the Marvel followers. After all, the gauntlet played a decisive role in the last Avengers film, swiping clean half of the superhero population. And if the ominous title carries through, chances are fans might have to endure few more heartbreaks.

Indeed there's almost a year's time left before the film - which is believed to conclude MCU's Phase III - lands in theaters, but that has hardly stopped fans from getting aboard the speculation train.

And the mixed message that is coming from the Marvel bosses, including director duo Joe and Anthony Russo and studio President Kevin Feige is not helping either.

Feige, in fact, outright shot down the rumor, stating that Infinity Gauntlet is not the title. Maybe a thought from director Anthony Russo would keep the peace until Marvel finally drops the spoiler bomb.

"It’s certainly grounded in the narrative that we have been following throughout the MCU – very well grounded…"

Avengers 4 releases on May 3, 2019.
