'You light up my world': Maria Shriver's touching post as she joins ex Arnold Schwarzenegger for son Patrick's birthday
Arnold Schwarzenegger and his ex-wife Maria Shriver on Monday, September 19, reunited once again for their son Patrick's birthday. Patrick, who turned 29 on September 19, posed for a sweet family photo with his celebrity parents. In the photo, the 'Terminator' actor and his ex-wife could be seen smiling as Patrick held up a dessert with a happy birthday sign.
In the picture with his son, Arnold wore a blue jacket over a button-down with an ornate pattern on it and rocked a beard. Maria looked stunning in a floral-patterned black and white dress. Patrick smiled with his parents while dressing simply in a white t-shirt, green pinstriped slacks, and a beaded necklace. He also posted a couple more images from his 29th birthday party, at which he was joined by his friends. He captioned the Instagram post, “Thx for the birthday wishes! 29! Crazy! Time flies.”
With a collage of images of her son over the years, Maria also made a unique birthday post for her son. She also wrote a heartfelt post to him on Instagram, adding, “You are an amazing son, and I love you so much. You are smart, kind, loving, caring, fun, and funny. You make the world better, and you light up my world every single day. I love hanging with you, laughing with you, dreaming with you, working with you, and being in your presence. What an honor it is to be your mother.”
Arnold and Maria got back together over a year after their divorce was officially finalized in December 2021, 10 years after their initial breakup. The pair announced their separation in May 2011 after being married in 1986. In addition to Patrick, the former partners have three other kids together, Katherine, 32; Christina, 31; and Christopher, 24. The former couple has remained unified as a family since their breakup. In 2020, they celebrated Arnold's birthday together, with Shriver smiling in a photo on Instagram next to her ex and their children.
According to PEOPLE, Shriver and Arnold said in a statement in May when they announced their separation, "This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart, while we work on the future of our relationship. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives.”
