Ariana Grande reunites with estranged dad after ‘falling out’, celebrates Thanksgiving with both parents for first time in 18 years
Ariana Grande had an extra delightful Thanksgiving this time as the 26-year-old pop singer spent the holiday with her parents. She shared an emotional post on Instagram that read “first thanksgiving with both of my parents in 18 years!”
One of the monochromatic photos showed her hugging her parents, Joan Grande and Edward Butera, whom she joined after taking a break from her 'Sweetener' tour.
Ariana was raised by both her mother and father in Boca Raton, Florida. When she was eight years old, her parents separated and she was raised for the rest of her minor years by her mother. Ever since, the star has been “out of touch with her dad”.
In an interview with Seventeen, she said it took quite a while for her to come to terms with the estrangement and admitted that it was tough to be a child of divorce.
"It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn't like that about myself. I had to accept that it's okay not to get along with somebody and still love them," she said in the interview.
She also mentioned her emotional struggles relating to her parents in one of her hit songs, “Thank U”, where the lyrics go, “One day I’ll walk down the aisle holding hands with my mama. I’ll be thanking my dad, ’cause she learned from the drama.”
Apart from her parents, Ariana also has had relationship troubles that she suffered in recent years, with rapper ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death or breakup with SNL star Pete Davidson. But after all the tough times, Ariana Grande is currently enjoying her single status and taking a break from the dating scene, reported Radaronline.
