Argentine singer-songwriter Diego Verdaguer, aged 70, died on January 27, 2022. Born as Miguel Atilio Boccadoro Hernández in Buenos Aires, Verdaguer was a popular singer with many hit albums and singles, as well as multiple awards.
The cause of his death hasn't been confirmed, but reports state that Verdaguer passed away in Los Angeles, California due to Covid. Verdaguer had contracted the virus in December 2021. "The singer born on April 26, 1951, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, won more than 20 gold records, was nominated three times for the Latin Grammy, and produced more than 20 times, including almost a dozen of his wife Amanda Miguel," reports American Post.

The official statement posted from both Verdaguer and Miguel's social media account's read, "With absolute sadness, we regret to inform all your public and friends, that our dear Diego today left his beautiful body, continue on your way and creativity in another way of life eternal... The whole family is immersed in this pain, so we appreciate your understanding in these difficult times. Miguel Verdaguer Family"
Condolences started pouring in soon after as people mourned the loss of the talented singer. A user tweeted, "I’m tired of great artists passing away. Grew up listening to him as a kid… dep #DiegoVerdaguer," while another said, "Diego Verdaguer passing away due to COVID is so sad to me, he got me through one of the saddest times of my life."

Who is Amanda Miguel?
Amanda Miguel is an Argentine singer. Born in 1956 in Gaiman, she met Diego Verdaguer when she was seventeen and joined his musical group Mediterráneo. Soon after, she launched her solo music career. The 65-year-old married Verdaguer and gave birth to their daughter Ana Victoria in 1983.
Miguel has released multiple singles and albums. She shares pictures of herself on her Instagram account, where she has 371K followers. Miguel posts images of photoshoots from her early years, videos, and pictures with her family. The title track of her album 'Amame Una Vez Más' was nominated for a 'Lo Nuestro Award' for Pop Song of the Year. The album reportedly met with critical praise and highly positive sales in the United States and Latin America.
Miguel replied to a tweet by Verdaguer saying, "Siempre te amaré" which translates to 'Always love you.'
