ONTARIO, CANADA: The identity of the real Kayla Lemieux still seems to be a mystery. After a report showed that Lemieux, the Oakville Trafalgar High School shop teacher, not in her usual attire, comprising Z-cup prosthetic breasts, outside school. After a lot of furore, the teacher was placed on paid leave at the end of February.

MEAWW had recently reported how a Twitter account, @Real_Kayla_L, recently posted on the social media platform in a March 6 tweet debunking rumors that she was an anti-trans troll. However, in an interaction with one of her critics on Sunday, March 5, the "real" Lemieux claimed the person with the large prosthetic breasts was not her.

Who is the real Kayla Lemieux?

Lemieux, who was recently suspended after photos of her wearing men's clothing sparked a debate about the authenticity of the  Z-cup prosthetic breasts, used her newly created Twitter account to take on online haters. On Sunday, she was seen tweeting in response to a critic, claiming that she was not the man. She wrote, "Nope! He's not me."

This sparked a back-and-forth conversation as a person tweeted, "His identity might not be yours but you two share the same body." Lemieux responded, "Well I would disagree with that. I am pretty fit and I take care of myself." The individual, standing by their point of view, wrote, "What I'm saying is the two bodies are in fact the same body. Two distinct identities sharing the same body."

Parents outraged by school's attitude

Parents at Oakville Trafalgar High School are concerned that Lemieux may be concealing her genuine identity as evidenced by a tweet that read, "I'm a parent of kids at the school. This perspective isn't new. There could be aspects of truth in it. But the reality is the board, school, ideologues have exploited a mentally ill person to push their mentally ill agenda. Lemieux is at home right now on paid leave."

Lemieux, on the other hand, has expressed her discomfort with being judged based on her gender identity. Recently, she tweeted, "If people feel the need to judge me I would prefer not to be judged on my gender identity and/or appearance! How about my ability to prepare lessons and assessment tools? My delivery of curriculum? How about my ability to engage students in 21st century fluencies?"

'There are people who don't understand me'

Many parents in the school district launched campaigns to have Lemieux dismissed after she received criticism for wearing the prosthetic breasts. Concerned parents established a legal fund on GoFundMe to file a lawsuit against the school to compel Lemieux to follow the dress code.

Lemieux was ultimately suspended on Tuesday, February 28, after photographs of her showed she did not always wear the controversial clothing. Nevertheless, she is being paid for her work at Oakville Trafalgar High School.

Regarding her suspension, Lemieux wrote, "It is true. Currently, I can no longer call Oakville Trafalgar High School my home. Despite everything that has happened during my time there, I truly loved the school. 99% of my student and staff interactions were positive. Of course nothing can ever be perfect."

MEAWW previously reported that Lemieux started transitioning from a man to a woman in 2021. In September 2022, she was protected by the Halton District School Board, which declined to comment because it was a "personnel matter." The district claims that intervening or making criticisms would be against the Ontario Human Rights Code. So far, parents at the school Lemieux worked at expressed relief that she had finally been given a leave of absence.

"There are people who don't understand me. This can lead to fear. That fear can lead to hate! If someone looks different from what you consider 'Normal', try to show some kindness and empathy. At the end of the day we are ALL people. We are ALL trying our best to survive...," wrote Lemieux.
