ABBOTSFORD, CANADA: A transgender teacher with prosthetic Z-cup breasts has been suspended from her Canadian school after pictures of her in men's clothing revealed she does not wear the noticeable attire at all times. Kayla Lemieux, who had previously claimed her breasts were real and the result of a medical condition, was in the centre of a controversy as outraged parents demanded she be fired but the 'woke' school system chose to keep her employed.

And yet Jim McMurtry, an Abbotsford School District teacher, was fired after four decades as a teacher for stating the facts to his students. Jim was canned after he spoke about the Kamloops Indian Residential School and said something that did not conform to the official ideology.

Kayla Lemieux: Students defend trans teacher with huge fake breasts, say she should be allowed to ‘express herself’

What happened to Jim McMurtry?

During a conversation in a Grade 12 class in Abbotsford, everyone was discussing the news of 215 unmarked graves at the Kamloops Indian Residential School. A student in the class Jim was representing claimed priests had murdered children at Kamloops Indian Residential School by torturing them and leaving them to die in the snow. Jim corrected the child, saying that "the children who died tragically while enrolled in residential schools did so from disease, particularly tuberculosis"

The remains of the children were confirmed with the help of ground-penetrating radar. At the time, Chief Rosanne Casimir of the Tk'emlups te Secwepemc First Nation in British Columbia described the discovery as "an unthinkable loss that was spoken about but never documented" at the Kamloops Indian Residential School.

Over 1,50,000 First Nations children were required to attend state-funded Christian schools from the 19th century until the 1970s. The National Truth and Reconciliation Commission identified more than 3,000 confirmed deaths of Indigenous children in schools, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. 51 students who died at school were officially recognized in 2021, and the dates of their deaths range from 1919 to 1971. While the commission found that the cause of death was not recorded by schools for nearly half of them, some died of tuberculosis.

Jim took to Twitter on February 21, 2023, after being suspended, saying, "Fired at 4.pm today by Abbotsford School District. Charged with “extremely serious misconduct” for teaching residential school deaths mostly from disease, fires, accidents. Woke priesthood doesn’t like objective truth, even from TRC Report. Thank you for your support. Goodbye."

Two vice-principals demanded Jim leave the school and he was subsequently put on an eight-month suspension, and eventually fired. He was not given any reason. “This woke indoctrination (is) as offensive as any totalitarian ideology that has ever been pushed. People use ideologies to further their own interests, this isn’t new. What is striking is that in schools they are presenting only one side," Jim later said, according to National Post.

“There’s people who believe that Canada is systemically racist and that all our ancestors were monsters. And I’m the person who is saying, ‘Well, let’s debate it. Let’s look at it.’ Teachers are walking on eggshells on all sorts of issues. Teachers need to stop now and say, ‘Enough is enough’," he added.

In a YouTube video, Jim said, "I'm an award-winning teacher with a PhD who's done nothing wrong, who's had Legions of kids who have loved him and and now I can't even work anymore."

Jim's Twitter bio reads, "Unwoke BC teacher against brainwashing students, race-hustling and censorship. An artist, scholar, inventor, astronaut and yogic-flier...live near me."

How the 'woke' school system defended Kayla Lemieux

It took one complaint and less than an hour to throw Jim out of the school. In the case of Lemieux, however, it took months before the woke school system decided to act. According to the Halton District School Board (HDSB), Lemieux was placed on paid leave on Tuesday, February 28. However, she continues to be paid for her role at Oakville Trafalgar High School. "While not currently on an active assignment, the teacher remains employed with the HDSB," board spokesperson Heather Francey told the Toronto Sun.

Lemieux started transitioning from male to female in 2021. The Halton District School Board defended her in September, saying it would not answer questions about the issue since it was a "personnel matter." According to the district, criticizing or interfering would go against the Ontario Human Rights Code. "The HDSB recognizes the rights of students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members to equitable treatment without discrimination based upon gender identity and gender expression. Gender identity and gender expression are protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code," the board said in a statement.

Parents at Kayla Lemieux’s high school have said they are now relieved the teacher has finally been put on leave. “This should have happened six months ago,” Oakville parent Celina Close told New York Post of Lemieux's suspension. Echoing her thoughts, Al Saplys, whose child is in 12th grade at the school, said, "It’s the right thing to do. I’m pleased that he has been put on administrative leave.” He added, "Quite frankly it’s a distraction nobody wants anymore and it will help return the school to a level of normalcy.”

Reportedly, the school received several bomb and gun violence threats after footage of Lemieux wearing the prosthetics in the classroom surfaced last year. Parents now hope the threats will stop. “Hopefully that will deter anyone who wants to call in bomb threats,” Saplys said.

“The Halton District School Board wasn’t treating it like a crisis. They were saying the right thing but weren’t acting,” he continued. “For some students it’s a big joke, other students were extremely anxious because of the bomb threats. Some were very fearful something was actually going to happen.”

Parents, however, said that the board has still not been specific about dress codes. It has not even specified a timeline for when it can be enforced. "It’s not the end of it. There’s still not enough specificity around a dress code. I hope there’s a professionalism policy specific to a dress code implemented as soon as possible, the same as the student dress code. What’s so difficult about that?” Saplys said. “The Halton District School Boards is dancing around the dates for a policy. There’s no timelines,” he added.
