LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Conspiracy theorists have made FAKE claims that actress Anne Heche didn't die in a car crash but rather was murdered. The 53-year-old acrtress was taken off life support and pronounced dead on Sunday, August 14, after being involved in a fiery car crash in which her vehicle plowed into a home in Los Angeles nine days before.

A toxicology report found traces of cocaine in her system at the time of the crash. However, the late star is now the subject of bizarre speculation as internet sleuths suggest her death was a lot more sinister than it appears.

As reported by Politifact, one TikTok video appears to show Heche struggling as she is carried from the crash scene on a stretcher. "Sacrifice hit," reads a text above the clip. "Popular actress Anne Heche was alive and tried to escape body bag after a fiery crash. She was later pronounced dead. She was currently working on a movie titled ‘The Girl in Room 13’ about the Jeffrey Epstein ring," the caption read.
Politifact stated that ther own fact-checkers found "no evidence to support the claim that she was murdered, much less because she was working on a movie about sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes."

Heche's upcoming film 'Girl in Room 13' sees her portray a mother in search of her daughter, who is a victim of human trafficking. The movie is aimed at raising awareness of sex trafficking. Some speculated that the film's events were inspired by Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier who was charged with trafficking dozens of underage girls in 2019. He pleaded not guilty and was later found dead under mysterious circumstances in his jail cell in August 2019. Contacted by Reuters, a Lifetime spokesperson confirmed the movie was inspired by true events but NOT by the Jeffrey Epstein case. Reuters found no mention of a character resembling Epstein in available reporting about the movie, which received media coverage before and after Heche’s crash.

Police reports state the car Heche was driving crashed into an LA home on August 5 and the driver "sustained significant injuries." The actress was later treated by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department and rushed to a local hospital. However, some erroneously believe Heche's involvement in the film did not sit well with powerful entities, who were a part of Epstein's sex trafficking ring and needed to silence her at all costs.

According to USA Today, however, Heche was critically injured at that point. It took 65 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the flames and rescue her. The actress sustained burns and a severe anoxic brain injury in the crash and was pronounced brain dead about a week later.

There is no concrete evidence that Heche was murdered despite the aforementioned theories. As mentioned, the cocaine found in her system would explain her erratic driving at the time of the crash. Meanwhile, the white bag placed on top of her in the video is a protective sheet typically used to prevent further injury to burn victims. Furthermore, while Lifetime has described the film 'Girl in Room 13’ as "inspired by actual events," there is no reported evidence that the plot is connected to the disgraced pedophile Epstein. And despite Heche's tragic demise, the film is still expected to debut next month.
