LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Just months before the fatal car crash, Anna Heche was was dragged to court after she was accused of failing to make payments on a debt plan. Court documents acquired by RadarOnline.com showed that Heche was sued by Citibank on March 3, 2021. The late actress reportedly owed $62,011.35 to Citibank at the time the case was filed. The suit said they loaned the actress but she failed to repay them.

The bank said Heche lived in the Los Angeles home she bought with ex-Thomas Jane, whom she dated in 2019. The duo then quickly purchased a $1.9 million home in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. The court was later notified by Citibank in August 2021 that they reached a settlement with Heche, said the report. The case had no movement until January 2022. Citibank said Heche had defaulted on the agreement by failing to make the required payments. To read about Heche's net worth, click here.

“Heche has defaulted on the payment arrangement under the conditional settlement agreement," said a lawyer for the bank. Citibank said the last payment they received was in October 2021. Heche agreed to pay back the $62k in installments as part of the deal. Under the terms of the stipulation, Heche agreed to pay no less than $5,170 every month commencing in June 2021 followed by a final payment in May 2022.

The deal said Citibank had the right to demand the entire unpaid balance in full, if Heche defaulted on her payments. The suit said Heche had made payments totaling $25k but still owed $36,161.35 plus $977 in court costs for a grand total of $37,138.35. Heche did not oppose the move in court.

As MEAWW previously reported, Anna Heche died a week after her automobile crashed into a house on August 5. She was suspected of being drunk while driving but was later found to be under the influence of drugs. After being severely burned and injured, the actress was declared brain dead on August 12.

Around 10.30 am, on the day of the accident, she made her first collision with the parking structure of an apartment building. Residents of the complex tried to get Heche out of the vehicle after the collision. However, the actress refused to shift the gear into reverse and sped off. After the first collision, a doorbell camera captured Heche's blue Mini Cooper speeding past a house on South Walgrove Avenue in the Mar Vista area at more than 90 mph. She nearly struck a pedestrian on the footpath before crashing into a Jaguar, according to TMZ. The Jaguar's driver was unharmed, and she quickly sped off again. Moments later, Heche hit a two-story building located on the same block, igniting both the building and her vehicle. The Los Angeles Fire Department claims that the accident resulted in the structural deterioration of the house after being subjected to intense flames. The LAFD said in a statement that it required 59 firemen to extinguish the flames. It took the firemen 65 minutes in total, and the house is no longer liveable. The building's occupants were unhurt since they were in the backyard when Heche crashed into the house's entrance.
