Anne Heche likely to face MINIMAL jail time after horrific accident that burned down LA house
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: An expert has claimed that Anne Heche probably won’t face a long jail sentence despite having crashed her car into a Los Angeles home, which burned down. The actress was involved in the near-fatal crash on Friday, August 5, and according to former US Attorney Neama Rahmani, she is expected to be charged with hit-and-run along with reckless driving.
Rahmani explained that since Heche’s actions did not result in any bodily injuries to anyone, she will likely be only pressed with misdemeanor charges. The ex-attorney added that the time given in jail to the ‘6 Days 7 Nights’ star for the hit-and-run charge could go up to six months and she can face up to 90 days for the reckless driving charge.

My Rights Law Group's attorney Arie Shamuilian claimed that chances were that Heche will be put behind bars for the crash. He told Fox News Digital, “In this case, there's other video depicting her vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and crashing into the building. I anticipate there could potentially be custody time with this case, given the circumstantial evidence shows her level of recklessness was pretty high here.” However, if a toxicology report concludes that the 53-year-old was driving while intoxicated, she could be slapped with a misdemeanor DUI charge. Shamuilian noted that that particular charge carried up to six months of prison time.
As per reports, when Heche was taken out of her blue Mini Cooper, law enforcement authorities did not get a blood or breath sample from her. But later, on August 5, a warrant was issued to get a sample. Shamuilian explained the reason behind it. He stated, “It's my understanding that she was injured in this collision. And in the state of California, if someone does not provide consent to submit to a blood or breath sample, the police need to obtain a warrant to get those blood or breath samples. Otherwise, it would be an unreasonable search or seizure.”
The attorney remarked, “Given the level of her recklessness, and driving and her speed, she's extremely lucky that it's at the misdemeanor level. And this is a case that shows the importance of why not to drink and drive.” He also added that the producer's "legal punishment will be in the form of criminal restitution," as reported by Fox News Digital. However, the probability of her being sued in civil court has not been nullified yet.
The house that Heche slammed into last Friday, on August 5, was of Lynne Mishele. Luckily, she escaped the tragedy as she was in the backyard at the time but her house did not survive. To help Mishele, her neighbors started a GoFundMe that has exceeded its goal amount of $100,000 with donations that totalled to $104,682.
The message on the fundraiser read, “Lynne and her family very narrowly escaped physical harm, and for that we are very, very grateful. The home, however, was completely burned - with 59 firefighters taking 65 minutes to extinguish the flames - and immediately red-tagged by the LAFD, necessitating that Lynne leave the place she loves. Even more distressing is that Lynne lost her entire lifetime of possessions.”
