Brad Pitt was linked to Selena Gomez years before Angelina Jolie and The Weeknd's recent date night
It has now emerged that Angelina Jolie's ex Brad Pitt was linked to The Weeknd's ex Selena Gomez years before the date night the actress and singer enjoyed recently.
According to HollywoodLife, the friendship between Gomez, 28, and Pitt, 57, is said to have caused tensions in his marriage with Jolie, 46. Gomez played herself in Pitt's movie 'The Big Short' back in 2015.

The Sun reported how the 'Love You Like A Love Song' hitmaker and the 'Fight Club' actor "appeared to be doing more than just bonding" over their film after The Big Short earned its four wins at the 2016 Golden Globes. The two were reportedly seen "gazing" at each other. "Brad's a huge fan of Selena," a source told Radar. "They've stayed in touch ever since the Golden Globes last year."
Despite having divorced in 2019, the erstwhile 'Brangelina' are still locked in a tense custody battle over their six children, namely Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
The 46-year-old Jolie was spotted on Wednesday, July 1, evening on what appeared to be a romantic date night with The Weekend, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, 31. The duo was spotted at the luxury Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles and appeared to be having a good time. They reportedly spent hours at the restaurant, before leaving separately to avoid raising suspicion.
According to The Sun, the 'Maleficent' star donned a simple black dress, tan trench coat nude pumps, and a black face mask as she left the restaurant. Meanwhile, the 'Save Your Tears' hitmaker sported a more casual look with a black tee-shirt, matching denim pants and jacket, and black combat boots with a silver chain. The news came as The Weeknd is all set to act, co-write, and executive produce the newly-announced show ‘The Idol’ with ‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson.
Though nothing is confirmed there is a possibility that the two met over a business meeting. Speaking on the rumored date of the two, a source close to the Grammy-winning singer spilled the beans to Page Six saying, “They’re clearly not trying to hide [the dinner date]” adding, “He’s definitely focused on getting to the movie business. He has the new HBO series he’s starring in.”
However, an insider noted The Weeknd had had a "crush" on Jolie for years and even name-dropped her in his 2016 hit 'Party Monster.' "He's had a crush on her for years - who hasn't?" a source told The Sun. In the first verse of the hit number, he sang, "Ooh, she mine, ooh girl, bump and grind / Ooh, she mine, ooh girl, bump a line / Angelina, lips like Angelina / Like Selena, a** shaped like Selena."
The Weeknd has previously been linked to fellow singers Gomez, Rosalía, as well as supermodel Bella Hadid. He was in an on-and-off relationship with Hadid, 24, from 2015 to 2019. On the other hand, his relationship with Gomez reportedly lasted only 10 months before the called in quits back in 2017.
Jolie has been married thrice. She tied the knot with Jonny Lee Miller in 1996, Billy Bob Thornton in 2000, and was married to Brad Pitt from 2014 to 2019, The Sun reported.
