Andrew Cuomo’s daughters, sister retweet Billy Baldwin saying NY governor has ‘earned right to investigation'
Actor and producer William Baldwin, the third-oldest of the four Baldwin brothers, wrote in defense of New York governor Andrew Cuomo after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Multiple women have accused Cuomo of sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior.
The scandal began on February 24, when former aide Lindsey Boylan made allegations of sexual harassment. This was swiftly followed by allegations from at least six more women. Charlotte Bennett, who was also a former aide of the governor, came forward with allegations that Cuomo asked her about her sex life and if she had ever had sex with older men. Following her, The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal published accounts of other women who made similar allegations against Cuomo.

Cuomo later offered an apology to the women and said he never knew he "was making anyone feel uncomfortable" and denied touching anyone inappropriately. But Baldwin said in his tweet, “I have known the entire Cuomo family since the 1980s. I have tremendous respect & admiration for every single one of them. Don’t you think, after 40 years as a New York public servant, he deserves and has earned the right to an investigation before everybody rushes to judgment?”

Baldwin’s tweet was then retweeted by Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo, the daughter of the governor. She also retweeted another tweet that read, “Millions of New Yorkers voted for Governor Andrew Cuomo. Forcing his resignation based on accusations alone without waiting for the results of an independent investigation currently underway will disenfranchise millions of American voters without examining the facts and evidence.” Michaela was not the only one. Cuomo’s other daughter Mariah Kennedy-Cuomo, and Maria Cuomo Cole, the sister of the NY governor, also retweeted it.

Earlier, Governor Cuomo denied any wrongdoing during a conference call on Tuesday, March 9, just hours after another woman came forward accusing him. During the call, he reportedly said that he had spoken about the "spectrum of allegations" of inappropriate behavior made against him with his three daughters.
"I told them what I told you, which is I never touched anyone inappropriately," Cuomo said. "I never made any inappropriate advances, and nobody ever told me at the time that I made them feel uncomfortable or awkward." Cuomo shares his daughters, 23-year-old Michaela, and 26-year-olds Mariah and Cara, with his ex-wife Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy, who he divorced in 2002.
Cuomo also said, “As I said last week, this is very simple: I never touched anyone inappropriately. As I said last week, I never made any inappropriate advances. As I said last week, no one ever told me at the time I made them feel uncomfortable. Obviously, there are people who’ve said after the fact they felt uncomfortable. No one told me that at the time.”
New York House Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman released a statement Friday calling for Cuomo’s resignation. “After two accounts of sexual assault, four accounts of harassment, the Attorney General’s investigation finding the Governor’s admin hid nursing home data from the legislature & public, we agree with the 55+ members of the New York State legislature that the Governor must resign,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Friday.

President Joe Biden on Sunday said that the investigation into sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo is underway, adding that he wants to see what comes of it. "I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us," Biden told reporters on the White House South Lawn.
