LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Veteran actress Andie MacDowell has opened up on what makes a person beautiful and it’s not just one’s appearance. The actress had said that it’s all about “keeping everything in perspective” as she attended the 8th Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards, to pick up her award for being a ‘Timeless Beauty’. She further went on to admit that she has been blessed to be able to live the life that she does. She said that being a beauty has to do with “realizing what a privilege it is to do what I do and just trying to take really good care of myself.”

MacDowell has credited her rigorous self-care routine, which involves hiking and yoga, for keeping her active and playing an active part in her wellness, according to ET. She also never fails to eat healthy and get a good night’s sleep, both of which are crucial toward maintaining health. However, MacDowell also chooses to break apart from her health-centered routine every once in a while to give in to having chocolate, which is an indulgence for her.

Andie MacDowell 'felt responsible' all her life as she started looking after her alcoholic mother from the age of 10

MacDowell on embracing aging and gray hair

The actress, who is now a grandmother, had stopped coloring her hair during the pandemic period and had fully embraced the look as she stunned with her salt-and-pepper curled locks at the Cannes Film Festival of 2021. Since then, she has been very vocal about the aging process and how she chooses to show off her grays.

She said she’s been “really comfortable” with her hair and that it was “something that I've wanted to do for a while.” She then went on to add, “And I'm really comfortable with where I am right now in my life. I just want to embrace the time where I am and be as real and honest as I can, not only with everybody else but also with myself."

For Andie MacDowell, dates are not a priority now

While talking about being and feeling beautiful, MacDowell also opened up about how her romantic life is not a priority for her at the moment. "Having to go on dates," she said while laughing. MacDowell added, "It takes energy. I'm so busy. Really feel like the most important aspect of my life right now is deep, meaningful friendships. And my job."

"One thing I forgot to talk about in that [acceptance] speech is the intense amount of love that you feel," she said. MacDowell added, "Because so many other things fall away that don't matter to you as much. And so you have a bigger opportunity to have a larger heart and compassionate love and empathy for all kinds of different people. So, it's not like I'm searching for a relationship. Like, I could have a great friendship with you and be very fulfilled with the compassion and love that I could feel for you, or other people. It's just a shift that happens with age, which feels really good."
