LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Every individual is feeling taken aback by the recently implemented changes at the DC Studios. When it concerns their vision of the DC Universe, co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran are extremely forthright. At times, the fresh approach clashes with what DC Studios had been doing for a while, and it represents a major shift for both the actors and die-hard fans of the franchise.

Ana de Armas was recently questioned during an interview if she will be taking over actress Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman' role as part of James Gunn and Peter Safran's re-imagined DC Universe, to which she replied saying she is not. Gal Gadot was first introduced to audiences as 'Wonder Woman' in 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice', which eventually led to her starring in her franchise 'Wonder Woman' in 2017.

‘Ghosted’ Review: Apple TV+ action-packed thriller serves common tropes and unexpected cameos

'Gal Gadot is doing a great job'

Ana de Armas was asked about any speculation that had been flowing in the industry about her taking over the part of Wonder Woman from Gal Gadot during a Wired interview while promoting her recently released movie, 'Ghosted' on Apple TV+. Armas said, "Well, I feel like Gal Gadot is doing a great job, so, you know, I think she should keep doing that."

The speculation of Armas being the appropriate candidate to take over the character from Gadot began after DC Studios co-chairmen and co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran made it obvious that they have completely distinct thoughts about how to proceed forward with the DC Universe movies. Gal Gadot did return to her role as 'Wonder Woman' in the recently released 'Shazam: Fury of Gods', but there are indications why one might think it may be the last time the actress wears the costume.

Wonder Woman’s future remains uncertain

The future of Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman' in the DC Universe remains uncertain, especially since the third installment of the film 'Wonder Woman 3', directed by Patty Jenkins, was dismissed. Some suggest the third film was canceled not solely due to the script, but because of the new path that DC Studios is pursuing.

Gal Gadot, who took to social media in December 2022 to share her enthusiasm for the next chapter of Wonder Woman with fans, received the news that the third installment of the film had been canceled. Patty Jenkins also released a statement stating, “I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.”

As a result, the future of 'Wonder Woman' in the brand-new and improved DC Universe is in doubt, as the co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios are currently focused on 'Superman: Legacy,' which focuses on Superman's balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The film is set to be released in 2025, confirming Henry Cavil's departure as Superman along with ‘Black Adam 2’ being called off as well.
