Jonah representing Montana brought the cowboy swag for the performance. Before performing he talked about his love for the state and said he was fortunate enough to grow up there. He emphasized that although the ranch life is hard, it's satisfying, He dished on his love for photography which he developed from an early age. His song 'Fire It Up' is due to the weather being chilly where he lives at the moment and that he would love to bring some heat by firing it up.

The song has classic country vibes with lyrics that said 'How Bout' we fire it up' while spurts of flames went up in the background. The audience had a good reaction with some of them swaying and singing along at times. Host Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson may have liked it, but fans had different opinions. Pointing out that the song was 'okay' with no stage presence, they said that his point of popularity was his looks and charms. Here's what they said.

A fan said, "Montana sings like he knows he’s good looking #AmericanSongContest", while another opined, "Montana. Sorry, tuned out midway. #AmericanSongContest". A tweet read, "Montana’s song was so nice but he had no stage presence #AmericanSongContest".

Another fan said, "This #Montana song is not firing me up, but I can totally see where this guy could have a following. His rollup was charming! #AmericanSongContest", as another commented, "The song of Jonah from Montana is ok. I dont like his way of performing and his hand movements. Dont know if maybe I´m the only one. Not my genre at all btw. #AmericanSongContest". A viewer also tweeted, "That lady in the audience with a blank face was literally my reaction to Jonah Prill’s basic performance of Fire It Up which was quickly extinguished! Even the crowd wasn’t fired up! #AmericanSongContest".
