Yam Haus, a popular 4-member American pop band consisting of Lars Pruitt (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano), Seth Blum (lead guitar and backing), Jake Felstow (drums and percussion), and Zach Beinlich (bass and backing vocals), are sure to be the hearthrob of this generation. The band will be seen competing on NBC's 'American Song Contest' against other music artists to win the title of 'Best Original Song' in the US.

The band started in 2017 in Minneapolis, when Zach, Lars, and Seth met in high school. They were soon joined by Jake, thereby completing the band. All four grew up listening to absolute classic bands like Coldplay and The Killers among others. Their debut album from 2018 called 'Stargazer' has been streamed over 3.5 million times!

Who is Yam Haus?

The irony behind this close-knit group is stellar. After high school, the four parted ways to pursue their respective interests in college, but made it a point to consistently be in touch. In due course of time, Lars managed to bring the band back together. He wrote and worked on a few songs, and finally reignited their dream. Seth, Jake, and Zach, quit their jobs to finally kickstart what was once a dream. There was no looking back for the boys after they took this decision.

The talented bunch are doing a spectacular job as artists today, even having sold out multiple shows in the Midwest. They have also been part of several famous line ups, including Best New Bands 2018 at Minneapolis' First Avenue. In addition, the boys also have a strong online presence, courtesy their Youtube channel that currently has a whopping 9.8 million views! It sure does help that they've accumulated a massive fanbase as well.

Yam Haus further gained immense popularity in 2021, amidst the pandemic, with their hit track 'Novocaine'. Lars mentioned that that this particular song is about them feeling numb, much like the effects of Novocaine as a drug.

Since the group always manage to connect with their audience at a deeper level, Yam Haus did find it difficult to boost their morale during the pandemic since they missed performing live.

What's more, the ‘Yam’ in Yam Haus stands for “you are me”, which is also mentioned in the band's official Instagram page. The phrase is something the four cooked up from their shared ideology of being kind and welcoming to all. In addition, since they're all high school friends, the band firmly believes that personal relationships are stronger than their professional ones. The dynamic shared between the friends is what they intend to share with their audience as well, with every performance.

After the initial invite to perform on NBC's 'American Song Contest' to represent Minnesota, all four were a little insecure right off the bat, mainly because it'd be the show's first year.

Fortunately, their collective diligence transformed this skepticism into eagerness and excitement to put up a brilliant show. In addition, they have already been guaranteed at least one live performance following by others, depending on how well they do on the show.

Yam Haus sure hopes to bring the prize for their home of Minnesota with their song 'Ready to Go'. The idea for this song came from some random tunes that Beinlich was practicing during the lockdown, and now, it's perfected to be on a competitive music contest! Yam Haus sure does seem like the perfect fit to represent  the North Star state.

As is the case in such shows, the band will be going against other brilliant artists like Michael Bolton and AleXa. The band described this experience as "surreal" as they have been catapulted from live streaming online performances to one of the biggest arenas out there.

All in all, the band really wants to impress their audience, irrespective of winning, and are beyond excited to interact with the other talented contestants and hosts of the show. Yam Haus has a strong fan following online; and a loyal fanbase will definitely give them a significant advantage since the show is primarily based on the votes by the audience.

Each act representing a US state or territory on the show will be battling it out to win America’s votes for the winning title of 'Best Song'.

'American Song Contest' is scheduled to drop on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 7 pm, only on NBC.
