SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 judge Katy Perry opted for a weird outfit for her latest ABC show appearance which drew trolls from her fellow judge Luke Bryan as well as the viewers. During the Top 20 reveal episode, Katy donned a floor-length black sheer dress. The pop singer's outfit featured a glittering silver criss-cross design.

Katy's dress also had the giant grey and black pom-poms scattered all over the dress. Host Ryan Seacrest introduced the judges and commented on Luke's pants at the beginning of the three-hour-long episode. Ryan pointed out how Luke's pants have been getting tighter every episode while Lionel Richie's has been getting looser.

Katy chimed in the conversation and revealed, "And Luke said I look like the inside of a car wash." However, Luke wasn't the only one to troll Katy for her outfit choice as multiple critics took to social media and trolled her dress. An X user tweeted, "Not the end photo and me going through a car wash yesterday."

Another person added, "Looks like Katy Perry was attacked by a pack of velcro poodles." Another critic noted, "There's trouble with tribbles all over Katy Perry." Another internet user penned, "You look so good Kary - crazy dress and all! ...not that you EVER look bad!!!"

Another viewer said, "You are stunning Katy but this dress? Well, I honestly don't know what to think. Lol, You look great in it but it's sooo...different?" Another social media user commented, "Hopefully no hedgehogs were harmed in the making of @katyperry‘s dress."

'American Idol' Season 22 was filled with emotional moments and performances which also broke down Katy Perry. After contestant Abi Carter dedicated her emotional performance on 'Welcome to the Black Parade' by My Chemical Romance to her grandparents, Katy was left in tears.

Katy wiped off her tears as Abi revealed that both her grandparents recently died.

Luke Bryan reflects on Katy Perry's 'American Idol' departure

'American Idol' Season 22 judge Katy Perry recently announced her departure from the ABC show and Luke Bryan revealed how he actually felt about the announcement. In a recent interview, Luke shared, "I had heard whispers that she was thinking about it... it wasn't like a huge shock."

Luke shared how he thought Katy just got "caught up in the moment with Kimmel" and announced that she was done with the show. Luke called his 'American Idol' journey with Katy a 'good run.' The ABC show judge also spoke about the 'great friendship' they have developed while working on the singing competition.

'American Idol' Season 22 airs on Sundays and Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
