‘American Idol’ Laine Hardy dated two women before arrest for spying on third one
The season 17 winner of ‘American Idol’ Laine Hardy was arrested on Friday, April 29, for allegedly spying on his ex by placing a listening device in her living quarters at Azalea Hall in Louisiana State University. Hardy was detained after his reported former flame found the bug in her room.
The name of the woman has not been released but the booking document issued by the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge read: “The American Idol winner is accused of leaving a listening device at his ex-girlfriend’s campus accommodation at Azalea Hall in order ‘to monitor her conversations’ when they broke up after dating for from November 2021 through February 2022.”

And, now it has been revealed that the 21-year-old singer also had a brief affair with two other women — Gracie Lee and Sydney Taylor. Hardy was with Lee on an on-off relationship for two-year. In June 2021, he shared a series of photos with her and wrote: “Just wanted to say I’m very thankful for this woman right here.”
Also, the high school grad’s Instagram page is filled with Hardy’s pictures. In October 2019, she shared a photo with him and captioned it as “My honey.” Another image from her page was shared on the occasion of Valentine's day as she wrote: “HAPPY VALENTINES DAY !! ❣️❣️ ILOVEYOU☺️.”
Not just that, reports said that Hardy also had a flirty relationship with Taylor in the summer of 2020 — who became Miss Teen Louisiana 2020. He shared a photo with her on his Facebook page and five days later shared that he got infected with Covid-19. He wrote on the social media platform: “As most of you heard, I have been diagnosed with the Coronavirus. Although my symptoms are mild, I’m following the doctor’s orders to quarantine at home and concentrate on getting better.”
Soon after that, it was reported that the beauty queen also contracted coronavirus. Ryan Miles, co-director of RPM Productions, Inc, which operates the Miss Louisiana USA and Miss Louisiana Teen USA programs, told The Advocate, “Sydney let us know about her positive COVID-19 test early this week, but she is doing well with mild symptoms and we wish her a speedy recovery.” However, it’s not known when they broke up.
Meanwhile, regarding the latest update on Hardy, LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard told The Post: “Laine Reed Hardy (Non-LSU student) was arrested by LSU Police today and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for violation of 15:1303 — Interception and Disclosure of Wire, Electronic, or Oral Communication. His arrest warrant has been filed with clerk of court.”
The prison booking documents stated that “the victim advised that last night, while watching a movie with her roommate, [they] located a device, appearing to be a phone charger under the victim’s futon,” and after researching about the device, it was found it was “a VR-500 Voice Activated Recorder”.
Hardy’s lawyer C Frank Holthaus has also commented on the case and said his client “did receive a warrant for his arrest [Thursday] and has been and will continue to be completely cooperative with the Baton Rouge Police Department on this matter. Due to the public nature of Mr Hardy’s profession, we ask for privacy at this time.”
