'Not watching anymore': Fans bash 'American Idol' judges over 'awful sing-off' as Paige Ann gets eliminated
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 hopefuls returned to the Showstopper Round 2 to earn a spot in the Top 24. However, after eleven aspiring singers advanced to America's vote, only thirteen slots were left for the top 24. The judges, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, have to be very picky this time.
The first round of Showstoppers ended with a major cliffhanger. Megan Danielle and Paige Anne serenade 'American Idol' judges during the sing-off. However, Megan goes through the round with her stunning performance but Paige failed to advance to America's vote. Meanwhile, social media users think the judges have made the wrong decision.

Paige Ann and Megan Danielle vie for the Top 24 spot
Monday, April 10, episode concluded with Paige Anne and Megan competing against each other for a spot in the final judgment. However, the 'American Idol' judges revealed during the latest episode that Megan and Paige were going to have a sing-off with Adele's 'Easy On You'. In a confessional, Paige said, "I had to just throw it all on the table and hope for the best." Both Paige and Megan nailed their performances. However, the judges have to make the tough decision and they sent Paige home. Katy said that Paige sang more notes but wanted Megan to find out who she was as an artist through the competition. Meanwhile, Luke said, "You are an incredible talent. This is a year that is really really stacked, maybe better than ever, with your style of singers. And we are totally in misery trying to sort through. But... you are not in our Top 24." Megan burst into tears as soon she gets to know that she has advanced to the next round.

'Paige should have went through too'
Paige and Megan both did their best to grab a spot in the Top 24, but Paige didn't advance to America's vote. However, 'American Idol' Season 21 viewers thought that the judges have made the wrong decision. A social media user tweeted, "I hate the “sing off” on American Idol. What a mean thing to call both girls in, make them sing, and then tell one she’s done and then tell the other what a star she is. Not watching anymore tonight." Another person noted, "#americanidol @lukebryan @katyperry If U 2 didn’t think Paige & Megan were neck & neck U wudnt have brought them in together & had a sing-off. So Y make Paige feel worse by telling Megan she’s a star right after U’ve eliminated Paige? Clearly U used 2 think they were similar." Another viewer said, "Clearly the judges thought both Paige & Megan were on par which is Y they had a sing-off. Then 1’s not good enuf & 1’s a star? If anything, Paige has more “it“ factor & wud appeal more 2 young girls." Another user noted, "Awful. They both are better than half the top 24. Paige should have went through too. Huge disappointment." Another fan said, "So both these girls get to go on but Paige is out. Why not let America decide on Paige too because judging from the comments on Twitter we prefer Paige." Another Twitter user added, "I say they have the audience vote to bring someone back & it should be Paige!!!!"
