LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' viewers were outraged when Katy Perry tampered with the brains of many contestants on the April 9 broadcast. Katy first informed several Top 24 singers that they weren't going through to throw in some drama, when, in fact, they were.

'American Idol' Season 21 started Sunday night with judges Luke Bryan, Katy, and Lionel Richie cutting the contestants down to the Top 24. The first of two 'Final Judgement' episodes aired Monday, April 10 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Throughout the two-hour Showstoppers round, contestants sang their hearts out, numerous heartbreaking decisions were made, and three fan favorites were eliminated. Katy's antics, on the other hand, disappointed fans yet again.

Katy Perry scares contestants with her 'fake outs'

The two-night Showstoppers round began with an episode of 'American Idol' on April 9. The Top 24 were chosen from among the remaining 48 contestants. For the first time, they played with a band and sang for their last chance to vote in America.

Nutsa was the third singer to audition, and the judges admitted that things were already "rocky" because she "slept through" the duets' section of the competition. She sang Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" — the broadcast then switched back to the judges, and Katy stated, "We have really appreciated you being in this competition. And we did not put you in the Top 24." As somber background music played, Nutsa began to cry and said, "It's okay." After a long pause, the singer gazed around the stage, wondering if she had anything further to say. "YOU put yourself in that top 24," Katy said.

"Nutsa you put yourself in that top 24!" Katy went on, attempting to explain what the perplexed participant had gone through. Katy then confessed that she had been unclear. "We didn’t put you in there, you did." "As confusing as it seems, you're going to the top 24!" Nutsa then contacted her mother to rejoice following the judge's rollercoaster trip.

Later, Katy subjected Zachariah Smith and another vocalist to a similar ordeal before sending them through. "You will be going home.... to pack your bags to come back to the top 24!" she said to Zachariah.

'Katy Perry loves to lie'

Frustrated with Katy's fake outs, a fan tweeted, "I don't like how Katy does all these fake outs with these singers. She did it at least 4-5 times tonight. A little mean especially when your first language isn't English. The stripper was devastated tonight. Prob wld have been better if she didn't get 2nd chance." Comparing Katy to another woman in showbiz, a fan quipped, "I'm watching American Idol and Katy is embodying Tyra and I kinda live." One tweet also read, "Katy Perry loves to lie," while a fourth person tweeted, "Katy pauses after the trick insult to give you time to guess the amending cliche. Duh. Learn the formula."

Asking her to stop, a fan tweeted, "Can Katy stop..... I've had enough of he sh*t #AmericanIdol just tell them if they going through or not ma all that extra we don't need hurry it up, next contestant pls." While tagging the pop star, a fan tweeted, "My Mom said “Katy stop it, you trick me every time!!” Criticizing the show, another fan wrote, "The fact that they always do so many fake outs, when they actually send someone home it’s hard for me to believe it lmao." Tagging the show's official social media handle on Twitter, a user wrote, "@AmericanIdol please please stop the stupid fake out when telling someone if they made it to Top 24. It’s annoying and not funny after the first 45,630 times you do it." Another added, "And I am sick of the fake fake outs, Knock it off."
