HunterGirl sings original song on 'American Idol', fans say 'can't wait to buy her album'
Following Kenedi Anderson's abrupt exit from 'American Idol' Season 20, her fellow platinum ticket holder HunterGirl seems to have replaced her as the new frontrunner to win the ABC's singing competition show. After hitting a few roadblocks initially, HunterGirl appears to have finally found her momentum as she continues to wow the judges and fans week after week.
Following her flawless performance during the Top 24 round, which had both the judges and fans convinced that she was a Top 5 material, she upped the ante with her top 20 performance. For the top 20 round, unlike many of her peers on the show, HunterGirl decided to sing her original song 'Heartbreak Down'. After watching her croon to her self-composed song, the judges were lost for words, while the fans couldn't stop singing her praises.

Several fans took to the show's YouTube clip of HunterGirl's performance to laud not only her songwriting skills but also her impeccable vocals. A fan commented, "Holy Mackerel, I cant believe this is her own song. She is an amazing songwriter and If she can produce an album of hits like that then she's a winner!! heck, She should be at the CMAs before long." "She’s the best one in the whole competition! She’s my favorite contestant that’s ever been on the show in the last twenty years. And I’m not exaggerating!! I think it’s so cool how she takes trauma and makes it a song for people. I wish she could do that for me!!! Maybe she could help my ptsd. But anyway, I love her so much and I not only hope she wins but I hope she becomes the biggest star and helps millions with her songs!! Her song tonight was amazing and I can’t wait to buy her album!" wrote a fan.
Many fans felt that she was a star in the making. A fan shared, "She doesn’t sound like a contestant on American idol, she sounds like a country star! Wow!" "She definitely has star quality. She has that vibe of a star," seconded a fan. "She doesn't need to win Idol. She just needs the exposure so people know she exists. I can hear her music being played on the radio for sure. If HunterGirl manages to maintain this momentum, we wouldn't be surprised if she is crowned the winner of the season.
