Emotions ran high on the Teen Mom OG reunion as Amber Portwood found herself in a difficult place. The 27-year-old said she couldn't defend her position as a mom, referring to the comments made against her by ex Gary Shirley and his wife Kristina. Amber, who appeared via video during the reunion, broke down as she presented her case to her cast mates on the MTV show and Dr. Drew.

The mother-of-one, who is currently pregnant with boyfriend Andrew Glennon's child, said she felt attacked by Gary and Kristina. "I’m really hurt because the last thing I want is… like… the last thing I want is for people to look at me like that person because it’s not me." Amber's statement was in response to Gary and Kristina's remarks on her capability as a mother, People reported.

She said her ex's disparaging statements affected her deeply, especially after her engagement to Matt Baier broke off recently. Just after the breakup, Gary commented on her new relationship with Andrew, stating that she should have remained single instead and focused on the daughter, Leah, whom they share. In response, Amber said that she couldn't defend her position as a mom time and again.

"It’s to the point where I feel horrible about being depressed and stuff. I don't know what anybody wants me to do anymore. I'm trying as hard as I can and as long as Leah knows that I love her with all my heart," Amber said.

"Even if I'm not a perfect mom — just so she knows I am here for her, that’s all that matters to me. I can't keep defending myself as a mom, anymore. I don't know what to do," the reality star added. However, Gary tried the placate her by saying, "Our issues what little they were, were a long time ago. I do not, and I will not keep Leah from you, ever."

Nevertheless, he did urge her to be more present with their daughter Leah. Gary added, "I know you’re sad from breaking up with somebody, I get it. From day one, I've been a parent, from day one I've never let my issues stop me from being a dad. I don't have the option to not be a parent."

While it seemed like they would resolve matters, Amber, however, tweeted on Monday, April 23rd. "Make sure to watch Gary and Kristina tonight talking s— about me! It must be hard making money off of me! Being such a bad mom and all. Where would they be? Wait..in a 1 bedroom shack in the ghetto of Anderson where he was before I got out and the show came back on!! Ignorant!"
