Broke Amber Heard says $7M donation pledge was meant to take place 'over time'
After it was revealed in Johnny Depp's defamation trial against her that she had not fulfilled her commitment to donate $7 million from her divorce settlement, Amber Heard stated she still intends to do so. "I made a pledge, and that pledge is made over time by its nature,” Heard told Savannah Guthrie's ‘Today’ show on Wednesday, June 15, when asked if not donating the money harmed her credibility.
She stated to Guthrie that she intended to keep the promise she made. During the trial, it was found that, despite saying that she would give the $7 million divorce settlement, Heard had yet to do so. During their conversation, Guthrie asked Heard a question saying, "Do you think, for the jurors sitting there, do you think they felt like that was you getting caught of the lie?" And Heard replied, "So much of the trial was meant to cast dispersions on who I am as a human, my credibility, to call me a liar in every way you can, and this is another one of the examples where if you pull back and you think about it, I shouldn't have to have donated it in an effort to be believed."

During the interview, Heard also revealed her current feelings towards Johnny Depp. Despite everything they've been through, Heard said that she ‘absolutely’ still feels love for Depp. She said, "I loved him with all my heart, and I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work. And I couldn't. I have no bad feelings or ill will towards him at all. I know that might be hard to understand, or it might be really easy to understand. If you've ever loved anyone, it should be easy."

When asked about the future, Heard said she's happy to be able to devote ‘full-time’ attention to her 14-month-old daughter, Oonagh, now that she's no longer ‘juggling calls with lawyers.’ When asked what she would tell her child about the trial in the future, the ‘Aquaman’ star said, "I think no matter what it will mean something. I did the right thing. I did everything I could to stand up for myself and the truth." Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard after she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in which she identified herself as a victim of domestic abuse. The jury found both Heard and Depp responsible for defaming each other at the end of the trial, which received national attention.
