REVEALED: Amber Heard's 'low-cut dress' that actress claims made Johnny Depp furious in 2012
Amber Heard testified in court on May 4, Wednesday, for her $100 million defamation lawsuit against her ex-husband Johnny Depp. During the trial, Heard, 36, said that Depp, 58, chastised her when she wore a low-cut dress to a 2012 charity event, causing her to cry as she recounted the incident in the Virginia courtroom.
Heard claimed that Depp made comments about her "whoring herself out" over her wardrobe choices while speaking about the alleged abuse she received from the Pirates of the Caribbean star. They were bickering about her clothes and her acting work, according to the actress, who added that she attempted to avoid discussing the issues since it would "change the mood." Heard stated, "[Depp] would talk about other actresses to do my role in this way where they were worthless whores, they were fame hungry, expletive. Every time I was walking out of the house he would ask me, 'That's really what you're wearing kid? Oh I see.'"

Speaking to the court, the actress went on to recount a time when she wore a "low cut" dress to a charity function and felt "embarrassed" about it after hearing Depp's comments. Heard said, "I wore a dress to an event once and I felt beautiful in it. Stupid as that sounds, I felt pretty in this dress I picked out and I showed him. I thought it was weird he wasn't saying anything about it."
Heard continued, "I left him to go do this red carpet and I was like, 'Did you see the event I went to?' Basically, I felt pretty and I wanted him to say something about that I guess." When Heard questioned Depp if he had seen the dress, she claims he responded: "I think the whole world saw that, kid. That's how they'll remember you, that's how the world will remember you."

"My dress was low-cut, I get it, it was low-cut, but I felt really embarrassed and horrible that I wore that. I felt like how could I have made that choice, of course he's right," she said.
Heard told the court how she "started to believe" Depp's narrative surrounding her clothing choices, adding that "it didn't stop". "When I walked out of the house it wasn't, 'Hey, you're not allowed to wear that', it was like, 'Oh, really, that's what you're wearing?'" Heard said.
"'No wonder you get cast in those roles, no wonder that's what you are, that's what you're making it," she said, adding that the comments would lead to a "blow up" between them.
Depp's defence team rested their case on May 3 after 13 days of testimony, while Heard testified for the first time on May 4. The trial, which is scheduled to last six weeks, has already made news for everything from Depp's aggressive text messages to audio recordings of their arguments. Following a trial in the United Kingdom in 2020, this is the second case containing abuse charges related to Depp and Heard's relationship.
