"She was a wonderful daughter, she was a great momma," said Deborah Moon, Amanda's mother, as reported by FOX5. As she spoke about her daughter, Moon's eyes began to well up with tears. According to Moon, her daughter was devoted to her family, had a son who was 14 years old and went above and beyond to help everyone. "This is the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life," she said. Rhonda Bates, Amanda's sister, said, "She was thrown away like a piece of trash, she was so much more than that."
Kennesaw Police Department took over the investigation on October 15 and secured an arrest warrant for twenty-seven-year-old, Jake Stephen Schell. They released a statement on Facebook stating that Schell was "charged with Concealing the Death of Another, Tampering with Evidence, Financial Transaction Card Theft (x4), and multiple drug charges". He is currently being held at Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Sharpe's family says they don't know Schell and don't know what might have happened. They're currently trying to focus on finding a way to cover Amanda's funeral costs. Donation boxes have been created and the family intents to place them in stores all over Cartersville. "It will be for people to donate money to help bury my sister, lay her to rest, give her a peaceful burial," said Bates.
The family is also organizing a yard sale. Friends have already begun donating clothing and other goods to be sold. It will take place at 10 Rubie Lane in Cartersville on the following Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If they earn more than is required to pay for funeral costs, the excess will be given to Amanda's son. Amanda's mother says that she appreciates everyone's efforts and it "shows they care."
